I think the whole thing seems crazy. Does the executive order halt ALL deportations? I disagree with that order, but disagreeing isn't a reason why ICE should be justifying in going rogue and acting on their own against a Federal mandate. I did hear that Texas won a lawsuit allowing them to still deport. I don't know if that has something to do with it. I would like to know more of the details. If necessary investigate and get rid of every single ICE leader that acted against the directive.
The constitutional legality and the authority of the signors of this agreement is in question. It all reads very greasy and shady. Further, these detention centers and over 70% of prisons in Texas are run by private companies. There is a lot of private interest and money being pumped into lobbying and I’m sure back room deals. Anyway, ICE and the deportation system is seriously ****ed up and I don’t see much harm in pausing operations while they get sorted out.
There are going to be multiple Trump loyalist true believers all over the government for the next year. It’s going to be a trend I’m sure to see both disobedience and self sabotage I’m sure. Republicans always project what they want to do by accusing the other side of it. The whole Deep state actor conspiracy just gave them inspiration for what they really wanted to do.
Texas Tribune on Twitter: "Breaking: A federal judge in Texas has temporarily blocked the Biden administration's 100-day moratorium on deportations of some undocumented immigrants. Attorney General Ken Paxton sued President Joe Biden's administration late last week. https://t.co/rjVtq42suw" / Twitter
