The former conniver in chief is going to make more money now than ever before. It involves another con, of course.

It’s important to remember why the twice-impeached former president needs so much money, and fast.
He owes banks and investors some $400 million in the next few years. There’s the $100 million coming due next year on Fifth Avenue’s Trump Tower. And the $125 million he borrowed on the Doral golf resort, in Florida, from Deutsche Bank, which he must repay in 2023. And the $170 million he also owes Deutsche Bank, in 2024, on his hotel in Washington near the White House.
The private citizen who now lives full-time—and illegally,—at his Mar-a-Lago resort in Palm Beach personally guaranteed these debts. If he doesn’t pay them—something he’s been known to quite frequently not do—his creditors can foreclose on the underlying assets and then sell them to get the money he owes them.

A typical borrower in Trump’s situation would refinance the debt. A refinancing would probably lower his borrowing costs—given how low rates have stayed—and would push out the maturities on the debt, essentially kicking the can down the road.
But Trump is not your typical borrower. Wall Street has refused to do business with him for more than a decade, after he singed many of the banks that lent him money as a result of his failed forays into the casino business, the airline business, and the marquee-hotel business, among others.
The one Wall Street bank that deigned to lend him money—Deutsche Bank—finally pulled the plug on him after he fomented the January 6 insurrection. Essentially, for Deutsche Bank to have any prayer of providing banking services in corporate America—lending money, providing investment-management expertise, or offering M&A advice—it had to cut ties with Trump, or else face being ostracized from the club.
In view of these obstacles, Trump will most probably tap into a subset of his army of 74.2 million voters and ask its members to give him, say, $100 a year to continue to get his pithy utterances, now that he has been removed from most of the major social media platforms.

Follow the logic for a moment. Say a third of his base—about 25 million people—agrees to sign up for some sort of weekly Donald Trump newsletter, the actual work for which he would (of course) delegate. The content could be his banal musings, or updates on his legal battles, or his plans for mounting a 2024 presidential candidacy.

And think how much easier it would be for Trump to blither away to some scribe for an hour a week and sell that to his paying customers than it would be for him to have a Rush Limbaugh–esque radio show or, heaven forbid, to try to do what is necessary to start an actual media company, as some have suggested he might do.

Trump as a Service aka TaaS. $99.99/yr subscription. He would be stupid to not take advantage.

A newsletter? Bruh he can start a news network and it would kill. Ppl who would watch out of hate and curiosity would be more than enough for ratings. That doesn't even include his own base.

If he doesn't get impeached I bet he sells another 70 million each of new style Trump hats, shirts and flags to pay off his loans. Add in the fools donating to his cause to run again in 2024. That alone will pay off his debt. Then he will get loyalists to pay him other ways for cabinet positions or favors. All the money will go to him, and he will do his big fundraising at his resorts.

I don't think it's a matter of Trump putting the work in. There are likely many producers out there who would be happy to produce a Trump show and given how fractured media is likely several outlets who would carry it. Either on cable and/or streaming. For Trump this would be like doing his rallies or long form tweets. Just let him ramble for an hour as long as he hits the highlights "Stop the Steal!", "Build the Wall!", "Lock her Up!"..

Wouldn’t watch a minute of that crap and apparently I have TDS. I disagree too that Trump is entertaining in a news setting. He’s a rambling and repeating moron at this point.

He only gets MAGA folks all worked up with his “take downs” WWE style and a news network setting doesn’t allow him the format to be interviewing or be on a panel with any sort of MAGA villain unless your idea of that verbal grudge match is Trump vs Matt Geatz or Gym Jordan which are the only type of people who will be on his show.... in which I would watch at least the Twitter clips to see them humiliate themselves.

The only reason why people think Trump is a “showman” is because he had Mark Burnett crafting and producing the show he was the star of. Given how the Trump White House show went it’s pretty obvious the only thing he’s good we now is showcasing utter catastrophe like a massive wreck on the side of the road.

So I’ll pass on Trump TV.

How about a reality show. "The Trumps" w. Melania, Don Jr, Ivanka, Don Jr and the gang. It would completely blow away the Kardashians.

Melania: "Don-alt, deed you screw her?"
Trump: "Don't ask me about my business, Melania."
    Melania: "Deed you?"
Trump: "Don't ask me about my business."
    Melania: "Don-alt..."
    Trump: "E-NOUGH!"

It is not a CON if people are willing. If you ask MAGA people would you be willing to be conned by Trump? I bet a vast majority would say "HELL YA!"

Speaking fees are tax deductible expenses and can be good business relationship builders.

Tough call. Sucking up to the .1% corporate folks , including those who own big media is really harmful. However policy based on them is what has caused his small guy folks to freak out quite so badly. Sorry MSNBC lovers it ain't all racism. Though it is obviously true almost all hard core racists are GOP/Trump supporters.

Have you posted a single thing in the past 5 years that isn't "whataboutism?"

I'm sure there are plenty of "speaking fees" to wall street bankers, etc. that are plainly corrupt and a back door to policy influencing. There also is a legitimate lucrative business in professional speaking at sales conferences, etc. My company held a breakout keynote at Dreamforce a few years back, and one of the keynotes was Michelle Obama. Her speech had nothing to do with politics, and I know for a fact her team had almost no correspondence where more than a dozen people were involved in the planning at any given time. There was no corrupt intent there. Just a company looking to fill out big name speakers, and a room full of thousands of younger workers who were really excited to hear her presentation. I've also been part of an engagement where George W. Bush was a speaker. Same situation. Oddly enough alot of young Democratic type of voters in the audience were also very interested in his presentation.

A big part of my revenue previously prior to Covid was January through March sales conferences. There is a big business in that profession during Q1 especially. Democrats should not be allowed to be shamed into never being able to give a freaking speech ever again because of the ridiculous conspiracy theories from the right that people like you paint on the entire half of the country you love to hate. You equating that with essentially running a scheme that takes advantage of old and stupid people with lies and conspiracy theories in a cult like manner is really beyond the pale, and shows your obvious bias.

You are not an independent thinker. You are the Clutchfans version of Ben Shapiro. We are lucky enough to not have to deal with an annoying voice to go along with your sanctimonious liberal hating dribble.

I didnt name anyone specifically nor did I call out a party. You did. You are way way too wrapped up in your team politics. I have my share of 'whataboutisms', but you're the king of red herrings.

There are many schemes that take advantage of ignorant people. Take conferences for example.
