Eric Gordon: We are good enough to be a playoff team.

I hear what you're saying about developing players, but to say MDA was bad for this franchise is absurd.
He unlocked Harden and led us to what should have been at least one title were it not for Adam Silver/CP3 injury. All the while competing against one of the greatest teams of all time. We were always right there.

 

Who the hell cares about good enough to be a playoff team! F that. Contenders or Pretenders!

 

I am and have always been in the “chip or bust” bandwagon.

but as a fan, I still watch games hoping they win and angered when they suck. If they make the playoffs it’ll be fun. If not... hope they get a great draft pick.

 

im not sure I want them to be a playoff team, but that just depends on what our draft situation is.

if we dont get a pick this year anyway then yea let's go for it. if we get one only if we are trash, then i'd probably rather be trash. if we make it, no doubt it we would just barely be in. I really do not want to see us get our asses kicked by the lakers again. rather suffer in the regular season and get a nice pick.

Everyone knows this guy is a 4th option, 6th man. Its sad thou.. He willl disspear soon and people will be like this team sucks.

 

Hell even the Lakers have developed players (Caruso, Horton-Tucker looks like he is going to be a stuck, etc.) during their LeBron era. The Warriors always were good at doing it too.

Your point about Harden is likely true though - he was playing GM it seems like and Morey just sat back and watched the show because he never dared tell Harden no. At the end of the day, Morey was the one who let him run wild and hired MDA in the first place. Morey only wanted to develop talent so he could trade it and keep his wet dream of a superteam alive.

Also, WTF are you talking about with Wood? You realize he was never on the Rockets while Morey was the GM?

He may be talking about the fact we signed Wood to our Summer League roster after he went undrafted. We were actually his first official NBA stop in that regard, I guess. But for whatever reason, the Rockets, Sixers, Hornets, Pistons, etc. all passed up a chance to sign him back then.

 

I mean on paper, you got 5 guys who can put up 20 or more on a given night. That's not bad at all. Just a matter of consistency now, injuries, and D.

8th

9th and 10 th seed are all playoff contenders. 9th and 10th have an outsider chance.

Does not mean those go deep anywhere.

 

And Covid 19 protocols.

 

Play-in team, absolutely. Playoff team, no.

 

This isn’t really debatable. Rockets are two games out of 6th, despite never once having their top three players playing together (Wood, Wall, Dipo). And they have the 8th best point differential despite having one of the hardest records. They have the second easiest schedule in the entire league going forward.

Anyone looking at this team and saying “it’s a bottom feeder” or “maybe play-in but not play-off” is just being negative for the sake of being negative.

 

This team looks awesome when shooters aren't getting the ball at the end of shot clocks and everyone defends.....who knew‍♂️‍♂️

i think we are good enough for 6-8th seed. If we have all of our guys together we are less predictable than with harden.
We can play good perimeter D with Wall/Dipo/EG.
EG is having a good year after his down year in 2020. With tate, tucker, Nwaba we have also good 3&D guys. Actually we play with so much energy and hustle. and a lot of our players can create (Wall, Jones, Dipo, EG, Tate, wood).

The biggiest question is our big men rotation and our rim protection.

But that's not the whole situation. Being good enough to be a playoff team in the West, and having a bunch of picks, young players and flexibility to get better, sounds pretty good to me.

 

EG's right. The FO moves near the deadline will be crucial. What they get back for PJ and others as well as whether they are able to utilize the TPE will be interesting to see.
