Seems like quite all haul for the pirates. Why not take the gamble for Yankees, who have so much money they can what the hell anytime they want. Hate that part about baseball.

Are Yankees moving on from Tanaka & Paxton? That would significantly lower their AAV.

Too much of a haul for a guy who’s made 7 starts the past two seasons. Glad we didn’t give up 3-4 top 15-20 prospects. Yankees got fleeced.

On the flip side, every year they don’t win a World Series is considered a disappointment... when THAT is the standard, every single year, and the pressure is always on the owner/front office/players/manager to win it all “or else”... there really is nowhere to hide.

David Esser is a 21 year old senior at the University of Maryland. He currently covers the Philadelphia 76ers for PhillySportsNetwork.com, and Phillies and Eagles for Section215.com.

Yankees aren't even flexing their financial might this season. Granted, they are probably already at or past the luxury tax for next year if they keep all their arbitration eligible players.

I’m slightly concerned too. Trying to remain optimistic, but not much to work with so far.

Don't love the return for Perez, but I think he might have been out of options. Cots says he is but Spotrac says he has 1 left.

But is it Click, or is it Crane tightening the belt, dealing with the financial realities of Covid and post-Astrosgate?

Ultimately, Click does the bidding of Crane. I have no inside information, just spitballing based on a life lived observing these things.
