That Covington for Wood and 2 1sts was not some middle of the road GM maneuver, that’s for sure. Pure masterclass.
This isn't even a trade... The Covington trade for Ariza and two firsts wasn't some masterclass... Wood was a good FA signing, but none of this makes you a top tier GM or any of this nonsense.
I found this quote addressing "the House situation" interesting. He has been nursing a back injury, as well as dealing with COVID protocols (and investing in his rap career), and was not in great form to start the season. House is investing in "a rap career?" I didn't know the fellow had one, much less was investing in one. Not impossible that I missed a reference to it somewhere in the past. So is he spending his funds on "rap lessons," hoping for a profitable return? Investing in recording equipment, perhaps? Also, has House ever been in "great form?" I've seen him in what I would call good form during games, although it's been so long ago that I can't recall just when that was. This is my kind of House:
That’s insanity The levels and layers our front office dug through to land C-Wood. ABSOLUTELY SUBLIME GM’ing. Deal with it!
I understand it's early, and I probably exaggerated a bit calling Rafael Stone a top tier GM based on a couple months of data. But he definitely could be. And he's done great so far. Got rid of Westbrook, who is now somewhat injury prone, can't play back to backs, and has a 45 TS% so far this year. 45%!! Oh and got a 1st rounder for free too. Sold high on Covington, who is averaging less than 7 PPG so far this season with POR, and used those assets to acquire C.Wood 23PPG/11RPG for cents on the dollar. Acquired Jae'Sean Tate and Mason Jones as undrafted players. Both of which would almost certainly be picked in the 1st or 2nd round in a re-draft now. Took fliers on Sterling Brown, Nwaba, and Boogie on minimum contracts. All of which have been nice role players in our roller coaster season so far. Let Mr. 9 PPG Austin Rivers walk. Acquired a great prospect Kevin Porter Jr. for NOTHING Got a very reasonable deal for Harden, given the circumstances. He basically quit on the team, but we still got a decades worth of draft picks/swaps and made up for Morey/Harden/Tillman's AWFUL CP3 for Westbrook deal. We got a top 40-50 player on an expiring contract to use as assets, along with the other draft capital to use down the road. I'm really liking what he's doing here. He handled the Harden situation very well, gave us a chance to maybe see if it worked out, it didn't, but still got a good return for James. And now BKN is stumbling and bumbling a bit with their new roster. Those picks could very well be Top 10 in a few years when their core declines, if they even stick around.
Neither..... Go Hoyas! #hoyasaxa EDIT: DC could have been one of the greatest PFs in history, but he got in his own way. Surprised you didn't include Billy Owens...
