Does anyone know how to How to burn data cds on Mac G5, OS X? From what I understand it is built into the OS? Is it drag and drop? A blank cd icon does not show up on my desktop. I know I have a burner. Do I need to get some software (Toast, etc)? Any help would be appreciated. I can't find much help on the net.
Disc Burn is built into OSX, so you don't need an additional utility. Insert a blank CD in your drive and you'll get a window asking if you want to initialize it, open iTunes, etc. Choose initialize and give the CD a name. Drag whatever you want on the CD from the hard drive. When you are done, you can either CTRL-click (or right-click if you have a mult-button mouse) on the CD and choose "Burn" or click "File>Burn Disc..." in the Finder window. The the CD isn't showing up at all, you might want to make sure your burner is being read by the computer correctly.
I did get the initialize/itunes prompt. The itunes threw me off. I guess I was expecting more options or something. I got it now. Thanks!
you can also change your preferences for inserting a blank cd if you what to ignore that alert or run a script or open an application. Also if you want a cd to show up or not to show up in your finder / desktop you can change that preference as well
