I'm starting to wonder if all the misinformation on Watson and the head coach hire is being soun by Caserio in order to see where the leaks are coming from. I think that may be happening. I seem to remember that happening with O'Brien. Could be misremembering though. It's a great way to vet employees, but also journalists.
Leaks in an org signal one of two things. Either the top brass are up to no good, or your culture as a whole is garbage. The Texans probably have both problems.
I’ve always assumed Schefter’s sources were higher level execs, coaches, agents and the players themselves. But right now it seems he is speculating based on what people around the league think may happen rather than know what will happen. So who knows what is real...and what is not. Hell Watson may not even know what he wants right now.
His source is Sarah Barshop. This ploy by Watson and his agent is to effectively control the coach hiring process.
Well, there's an obvious candidate - with an axe to grind, no less: Amy Palcic. I would bet a large sum of money she's the source for the SI/Easterby pieces, and it wouldn't surprise me if she's stirring the pot with Watson, either to **** with Cal and Easterby or as a mouthpiece for Watson. (And good for her, if she is - **** these toxic, religious dullards running the team.) Until Watson does or says *anything* on the record, I'm inclined to think the vast majority of this is bullshit and/or wish fulfillment masturbation. I don't think it's a coincidence the team most often mentioned in any Watson trade scenario is in New York. These guys love Watson and probably would LOVE him in their backyard.
I tend to agree. I'm having a hard time remembering the media pouncing on what is, for now, unsubstantiated bullshit like this. And I say that only because the two principles - McNair and Watson - have not confirmed any of this other than the viability of them not being on the same page. It could very well all be true - but until Watson formally requests a trade, honestly? All this Photoshop conjecturing and active players campaigning feels like something the NFL needs to clean up - it has the potential to poison the well.
