We already have a STAR player....Woods! We need another star player for next year so these guys can grow together. Either Collins from Atlanta: expiring contract, does not get along with their star player and Atlanta already has his replacement Gallarini! I would give them:

ATL: Gordon, and 2nd round pick
    Houston: Colins and Tony Snell

But it all depends if Collins want to sign and play here.....give him the MAX because he is going to be a All Star soon
    OR

Bulls: Give up Draft picks, Gordon, Victor and PJ
    Houston: Lavine

We need Collins or Lavine to play with Woods.....all three players are going to All Stars this year or next year.

Notice how I didn’t discuss GS draft picks but rather their success .

Why we looking at other teams. Lets just look at the Rockets.
Rockets have drafted number 1 over all 5 times and gotten.
    Elvin Hayes,
    John Lucas
    Ralph Sampson
    Hakeem Olajuwon
    Yao Ming

They have drafted in the top 4 3 more times and got.
    Rudy Tomjanovich
    Rodney McCray
    Traded for Steve Francis

I think we have done a pretty good job drafting with top picks in our history. I like our chances if we bottom out.

Heck we have even found quite a few diamonds in the rough with much later picks.
    Robert Horry
    Sam Cassell
    Harrell
    Capela
    Parsons
    Brooks
    Mobley

LMAO I love how people are acting like getting the number one pick gives you less odds of drafting someone could.

How can you guarantee we can beat any of those teams? In the past, going into games we could at least say we had the best player on the court in almost all the games we played. What do we have going for us now? Everyone one of those teams might have a player better than ours now. So at best its 50\50 we win any of those games.

    Thunder -- SGA
    Grizzles -- Morant
    Spurs -- Derozan\Aldridge\Murray
    Hornets -- Ball\Rozier

    Wizard -- Beal
Knicks -- Randle is beasting this year
    76ers -- Embidd
    Mavericks -- Luka
    Pacers -- Brogdon\Sabonis
    Bulls -- Lavine

They drafted Curry top 7, and were bad the year prior to get him, that's all that matters.

A lot of these were good players but didn't live up to the hype of a #1 pick other than Hakeem.

As for finding diamonds in the rough, yeah, that's the whole thing I've been saying. You can still find good players outside of the top 5. All time players even.

No one has any idea. All these guys come into the NBA with the hype of being the next big thing and then they turn out to be meh.

GS didn't tank at all. They continued to try and be compeitive but Curry's injuries made it hard for them to be. Klay Thompson was an 11th overall pick, you don't 'tank' to draft 11th overall.

Curry was able to be drafted because their last team, the Monta Ellis era, had so many injury issues and they ended up drafting Curry...and even then they were lucky because IIRC like 3 or 4 PGs went ahead of Curry.

They even made a trade that year to get Crawford and try to float above water. They just never tanked.

They would be if they revive the Sonics and the Thunder are allowed to stay.

The league has been looking into that possibility.

The Warriors did tank in 2012 to keep their pick that was top 7 protected. That's the draft they got Barnes, Festus, and Draymond. They may never take a chance on Draymond if they didn't already have 2 first round picks.

Green wouldn't have even been in the league if it weren't for Kerr, his own words there. Green is also a 2nd rounder proving the point that scouting well and having good coaching does you a lot of good.

Also, how did that team tank but the team the next year didn't? Their roster is similar minus Barnes and they even traded for Bogut but Curry was out again for most of the season. The year before that they traded for Lee. They always made moves to make their team better the only reason they had bad records then were injury issues.

So banking on drafting a dude projected to be a solid starter who turns into a future hall of famer?

    Bold strategy, Cotton.

He appears to be the safest pick for me. A solid two way player with size and very good court vision.
I think he has the potential to become an all star.

What? You arent getting the point. The point is, dude's have drafted their franchise guy prior to being bad the year before. Its happend so many times. I'll say it one more time so you guys can get it, THE MAVS LITERALLY TANKED TO GET LUKA. We need to tank to have 52% chance at Cade Cunningham.

So yea.....it is indeed a bold strategy Cotton. :D

Good scouting and good coaching would be great for that number one pick. :)
