God, we sound like the Timberwolves now... Banking on draft prospects who will more than likely not pan out. Exciting times!
Edwards...#1 pick...??? Traded picks from 2019-2017 2016...Kris Dunn...bust 2015...KAT...all-star talent 2014...Levine...a bust since they traded him but he's a decent fringe all-star player 2013...Trey Burke...yep... 2011...Derrick Williams...yall remember him? 2010...Wesley Johnson...most memorable moment is him getting dropped by Harden. This was a #4 pick... 2009...Rubio AND Flynn...two busts...and Rubio was hyped as much as Luka... 2007...Brewer...lol I mean you can do this for every team and more often than not your first round pick doesn't meet expectations. In 13 years the Wolves have Kat to show for it...depending on how Antman develops I guess. EDIT: Of course they traded for Love and then traded for Wiggins. Love was an actual MVP candidate and had his best years there...Wiggins of course was a bust despite being hyped as the next great swingman.
That's why I don't like the idea of tanking, can tank all you want and still not being any good just like Timberwolves. Timberwolves tanked for a decade and still suck, they got 1st,7th,5th,1st,9th,2nd,4th,5th picks in last 10 years.
Y’all better stop relying on Wall man. As unreliable as they come. ...uhhh no I sound like a realistic fan that knows the team, as currently constructed (with or without wall) is trash and will be one of the worst teams in the west. .... the optimistic fan in me would enjoy researching a potential gem in next years draft to get excited about.
Timberwolves were NeVER contenders (thanks to their Mgmt team) it’s not just how you draft it’s how you manage your team. There are plenty of teams with top picks that make use of it. The t-wolves is a weak take - you can bucket them with the Knicks who have no clue what they’re doing. a few better examples where teams drafted well and had decent “GMing”...each team is competitive with their drafted stars - Suns - Nuggets - sixers - Mavs - Hawks - and dare I say it...warriors So I’m putting the rockets in the latter category - let’s get a good pick/picks and Let Stone get to work.
They also are really bad a drafting or developing. I mean they passed on some all time great players.
Honest question. With the upheaval of our front office do we have the tools and resources in the scouting and player development department? Everything about Tillman screams he won’t pay to build a product from the ground up but I have no idea if that’s me being biased or not.
I agree he won't spend the right amount on scouting. But apparantly Stone is good at scouting players. But I mean tanking is our only chance at winning cuz he won't spend the Money to improve the roster.
He built the delicious / extravagant Landry's restaurant from ground up. Do you think McDonalds and Chillis can even compete with the beef ?!?

It sucks though... This team had an incredible streak of winning seasons, and if not for injuries, that streak would arguably stretch back 35 years. It looks like it's about to end in grand fashion. F*ck Fertitta man...
That method also has worked for GS, Boston, Philly and TOR. Just have to hope that Stone and his staff are good enough at identifying the talent available. With all the picks we own its definitely possible and not as much of a crap shoot as some make it out to be. Just need to be inside those top 7 picks for a couple of years. It could blow up or it could be a dynasty, but at least it offers fans some hope. Way better than infinite mediocrity.
Look at February's schedule. Everyone calling for a tank is going to be very upset after February. If this team isn't over .500 by March 1, I'd be absolutely shocked.
