we could get no 1 pick with 100% chance only if we could take some salary back.. i heard that GSW is willing to give 2014. no 1 pick Andrew Wiggins for free... they may even send additional picks with him if only someone will take his salary
mane what do you need top 4 pick for when you dont even have a shooting coach...and your players dont practice shooting... watcha gonna do with it?... pick 4 or 44 its all the same
Hey it looks like we’re bottom four atm?? bring on the tank train... f it Detroit/Washington could be better than us???
Go all in for the top 4 pick this year and in each year till goal accomplished. Package Wood ( he is too ambitious to be a star soon) with Tate and Gordon for the worst big contract in the league or a package of the worst picks. Play Wall, Boogie and Tucker 40 minutes a night, especially on back to backs till they break down. Trade old man Oladipo for picks asap. Send the most promising rookies to the G-League and never call them back or send them for more picks. Get only players preferably under 22 who will lose often no matter how hard they try, how slim they are and how few times they party. We will inevitably get a young player(s) young enough to grow into superstars and who will remain here loyal in Houston forever. Trust the system. If we get 30 or even 50 picks in the next years we will eventually get a young Harden or Durant.
Something I think a lot of you guys aren’t considering... I keep seeing, “compete this year, tank 2022 and 2023.” Do you not realize that IF we were to grab a top 3 pick this year, we likely don’t have to even consider tanking anymore. Best case scenario we grab Cade Cunningham... You can immediately start to weigh options with the guys currently on the roster. Figure who fits around your new franchise cornerstone, and start building. you could be competitive immediately! Waiting to tank just delays the point at which we can actually start competing again!
This. Now people are getting it ... this extreme would be my route if you gave me the keys to the front office
tanking and good basket ball arent mutually exclusive.. not that i am in favor of tanking but its fun watching youngsters 3rd stringers and outsiders thrown outthere fighting
There is zero chance of good basketball this season... What does that even mean? Best case scenario would be to be like the 10 seed and somehow win the play in tournament and get swept by the Lakers by 50 a game that’s best case scenario...
Right... But that 2nd year wouldn't *feel* like tanking! It would just be a young team learning the NBA
I think we can bundle our goals and watch a lot of Tate, Mason Jones, Martin Jr et al aaaaaand tank at the same time. While providing the current set of veterans with ample time to rest and nurse their injuries. You bring back as most people as you can, with the NBA's Ted Lasso and some Rookies next year and see where we are
Wall, Gordon and Oladipo are not our future. all they can do is reduce our chances of getting a top 4 pick; thereby reducing our chances of getting the young franchise player we so badly need to rebuild. You move Oladipo, Tucker and House for more picks and you give Wall and Gordon back to back's off and play them 30 min to preserve their health (which is the responsible thing to do btw given their injury history). If we take this approach we are looking at a lot of playing time for Nwaba, Brown, Tate, McLemore, and Wood. A top 4 pick is legitimately within reach, and you get a whole year of development out of the young guys. Not to mention you continue to accumulate picks and preserve Gordon and Wall, who are a year or so away from becoming trade assets. To me, this is what rebuilding looks like ...and it's not a bad thing.
This team needs to focus on the top priority, that is to get the franchise player through draft. it was more than 10 years wasted.
