That's a simplistic way of looking at it. Curry is one of the easiest players in NBA history to build around. Plus, he doesn't feud with his teammates. He also plays a selfless brand of basketball that everyone can appreciate. Harden was the opposite of all that.
where is currys gravity this year. Curry is also seeing the same defensive attention harden saw the last 3 years and his stats are coming back down to earth
What do you mean? It's there. Watch the games and you'll see. For instance, last night, both of Wanamaker's baskets were due to Curry's gravity.
It's beyond obvious why to anyone watching the games, now and in the past. He's not on the court with guys you just can't leave, such as Klay. You don't shoot the same with: - less space to operate - not having multiple folks to let you hide on defense and conserve energy Him having his worse season shooting ever is not a shocker. Conversely, look at the extra space Harden is getting in Brooklyn right now.
I’m not going to argue over luck. The situations aren’t the same. Curry has stuck with the team that drafted him and won three championships and got to the Finals 5 times in a competitive West. He had his share of bad luck and good luck throughout. If Harden wins a ring, the right comparison would be Anthony Davis — not Steph Curry.
His 3p% is down. But he is still averaging 28 ppg. His TS% is back to his shooting level before the super team years. The difference between this year and those super team years seems to be that he is going to the FT line more, meaning he is being more aggressive going to the basket. His ability to get to the rim and finish is underrated. This season's sample size is still small. But so far, I see that he is indeed having less good looks. But Curry is still a very capable scorer even without all the offensive fire power around him. To say that he was only good because the defense couldn't focus on him is clearly not true. His team is hanging around.500 ball. We'll see how the season goes. Oubre seems to be settling down and playing with more confidence. I think most Rockets fans tend to underrate Curry because (1) the Harden comparison, and (2) the hatred toward the Warriors during their dominance.
LOL stuck with the team that drafted him. When he first had a chance to leave he was coming off an injury and had to sign at a discount...with his own team. The second time they were already winning. If Harden wins a ring it will be because he is on a team that is arguably the most talented in basketball, which would be the same situation Curry was on every time he won, and most other players not named Hakeem, Duncan (x1) or Dirk.
ugh nope, imagine if harden went scoreless in a half in a playoff game let alone be allowed to miss multiple playoffs and then the rockets were still good enough to win a 1st round series and go up 2-1 in their 2nd round series. Curry has been put in the perfect situation from day 1. You give curry pj tucker, danuel house, clint capela( who is a worse shooter than wiseman btw) and eric gordon and lets see what he can do. Any guard will look with those warriors rosters, the only thing underrated about the warriors this year is the amount of talent curry is playing with. They arent big names but wiggins is miles better than gordon, oubre on his best day is a rich mans ariza, wiseman is a better version of clint, then you still have draymond who is like pj tucker on steriods.. then you bring up bazemore, wannemaker, eric paschall and looney. Their is talent on this roster, way more than the talent harden has played with most years in houston
Winning a championship because you’re on arguably the most talented team will almost always be true. But the first championship Curry won the Warriors were not overflowing with talent. Who was predicting them to be as good as they were in the preseason? They won because of a combination of talent, smarts, luck, and chemistry. And they followed it with a 73 win season — no Durant. No one was on that all-time team with the individual talent on par with Durant, Harden, or Kyrie — other than Curry.
Maybe not the exact wording. But look at this thread. Plenty of posts say that Curry can't get his without playing on a stacked team.
Is Wiggins better than Gordon? Based on what? If you're talking about this year, then maybe you have a point. However, if you're talking about this year, Oubre is inferior to Rockets' Ariza, and Wiseman is significantly inferior to Rockets' Capela. Wiseman can't even stay on the court because he's so foul prone. Rockets' Beverley is easily superior to Wanamaker, and Lou Williams is easily superior to Bazemore. Ryan Anderson and Paschall are probably a wash.
lets not rehash history, oubre is a great defender similar to ariza. But oubre is way more athletic and their shooting throughout their career is a push. Oubre and wiggins are both proven 18 ppg top notch isolation scorers in the nba. That much is given. Then you have eric paschall who averaged about 58% true shooting as a rookie( all nba rookie 2nd team with no curry all year). And not only is wiseman is a better prospect than clint, you could argue he is as good or better than year 3 clint. LOL Lou williams is not better than bazemore stop it. Bazemore can actually play defense. Paschall and anderson are not a wash, ryan anderson gave the rockets what juan tascano anderson or looney is currently giving the warriors.
Not really, his TS% is still be below even 2014 . His offensive impact metrics are also still worse than Harden’s and other great offensive players. His teams offensive efficiency is trash. They are winning more now because Draymond helps them both offensively and especially defensively. Draymond is a still a top defensive player in the league
So you're talking about career, not just this year. In that case, Gordon > Wiggins. And no, Oubre/Ariza's career shooting isn't a push. Ariza's career 3pt% is 35%. Oubre's is 32%. How is that a push? You have strange logic. You're trying to argue that Curry has a good supporting cast this year based on what they've done in previous years on other teams while ignoring what they've done this year in Golden State. Ryan Anderson also had a 58% TS. I'd rather have the guy who performed well on a winning team than the guy who performed well on a lottery team. You'd lose that argument. Currently, Wiseman is making a lot of rookie mistakes and has trouble staying on the court. 3rd year Capela was also foul prone, but he wasn't nearly as bad as Wiseman. Lou Williams is EASILY better than Bazemore. If you can't even agree to this obvious truth, then you're clearly arguing in bad faith. The ability to run an offense is far more valuable than perimeter defense. Ryan Anderson played about 30 mpg on a 55 win team and shot 40% from the 3pt line on high volume attempts. Looks like you're the one trying to rewrite history.
Yes they were. The team had Steph, Klay, Dray, Barnes, Lee, Iggy, Bogut, Barbosa and Livingston. List 3 rosters with more talent. List ONE roster that they had to play in the playoffs with as much talent.
