Okay, well that's a bit more detailed than just making Harden drive right. He loves driving right, it's one of his best moves.

Remind me why he should be taking the hard way?

i love when people try to act like there's a correct way to guard un-guardable players. There isn't. If it was so easy to do something, he wouldn't be considered one of the best offensive players of all time. And arguably the best offensive player today outside of KD. he has literally a counter for any way you try to guard him. It doesn't matter. He isn't your average player. The only thing players can do is try as much as possible to make it tough on him and hope he misses or makes bad decision. that's it.

All this play off of him, make him go right, take away his step back, make him drive, blah blah blah we've heard for years all are a bunch of nonsense. You'll get cooked regardless of what you do in the end good defense, awful defense or not

It’s funny because it’s true. He is a better player than KD.

Letting him drive right and then go back to his left is ultimately the same as letting him drive left. Forcing someone to drive in one direction as opposed to the other is to stop them from using their dominant hand. Showing Harden drive past horrible defense doesn't mean anything.

And that has been effective how?

So why did they just start doubling him in the half court if this has been effective?

Harden can literally beat anyone 1vs1. It doesn’t matter if it’s right or left. It doesn’t matter how much or how little space you give him. And now you can’t even double him. It’s game over for defenses.

Well you can pretend he does everything equally well but we all know that's not true. He'll drop 60 on the Knicks when it doesn't matter and then score 17 points in a playoff elimination game because one team sucks at defense and another team plays him much tougher. It's not a mystery how to guard him but you do need the talent on the court and the desire to follow through on a game plan.

it doesn't matter. he does everything well enough that your average basic defense isn't stopping him. especially not some basic play off him go right as if people haven't tried that at the highest level for over a decade

It’s legitimately weird reading comments from people who thought they hated Harden’s game but never actually watched him play. He’s been one of the 2 or 3 best players in the world for a solid 5 years and people are just now realizing he can dribble. Crazy.

Average, true. Harden takes much effort and team defense to stop. I agree with you. It does happen though and more so in the playoffs when it counts as his numbers show.

The selective ones that apply to narratives are only used. that's the theme and how it works around here.

So why is he averaging over 25+ a game in the playoffs?

Teams don't have talent or desire?

Why don't you look at how many ppg he has averaged against GS in the playoffs?

U do know Harden averaged 30, 6, and 8 and shot 47% against OKC even with their “Harden stopper” Lu Dort in last year’s playoffs right? It’s not a mystery yet teams decided to just double at halfcourt because nothing was working and he was voted yet again as the player who requires the most adjustments from opposing coaches.

and you’re focusing on Harden, but I asked “how do u guard them?” because right next to Harden will be KD and Kyrie

How about the rest of the series.

That year Harden averaged 34.3 points on 44% shooting, 35.5% from three point range.

Against OKC he was 29.7 points on 46.5% shooting, 31.3% from three point range.
