the problem is... the way that rockets salaries are structured right now, you cannot take on a premier power forward, retain steve francis, and then expect to sign yao for the max and not pay the luxury tax in the long run.

we have some bad contracts in Cato, MoT, and Spoon. They are good players but are vastly overpaid. that severely limits what the Rockets can do.

Dude puts up 20-8-8 vs. the Lakers in the playoffs and you guys STILL don't get behind him? What's it gonna take?

Has Steve Francis really 'stepped up' his game as much as we think?

Take a look at Steve's numbers during the regular season V. the Lakers and the numbers in the postseason. He's definitely been our best player in the post season, but the Lakers have been one of the easiest teams for Steve to play against and it shows whenever he plays them. It's strange, but Steve is still more efficient in the regular season against the Lakers.

Its still a great effort by Steve and a shame that Yao couldn't at least maintain his yearly statistical average in this series, it could easily be 3-1.

    why get rid of francis?

    why get rid of francis?

he's been the most consistent player we've had in the playoffs and has carried houston. I think Mobley should be the one on the block. Houston needs someone that is more consistent

Then lets give him a chance for those people who are not sure current Franics will play like this til the trading deadline and see if he has played better

The thing with Stevie is he gets up for the big games as those numbers evidence. All the games are big in the playoffs which he plays his ass off in, so who cares if his numbers weren't as good this year or if he's the prototypical PG; with him stepping up and leading us the way he is now, it doesn't matter. Profile, b****.

Doing it against a team other LA since those are almost identical to his regular season numbers. You've heard the old expression "set up to fail"? Playing against the Fakers is the inverse....he shot 49% from within the arc in the 4 reg season games.

...sigh...I didn't know the barometer for playoff success now entails having to play well against a team you didn't play well against in the regular season.

Since that is the new barometer, can somebody post each and every Rocket's regular season numbers against the lakers and now their current numbers? That way I can be sure of who is having a good series and who isn't, rather than having to watch them play.

well, if its just the Lake Show why isnt Yao putting up 20+pts? being a hoops junkie, i have literally spent entire days on different sites reading articles and such. the one thing that you'll come across is the fact that that is exactly what the "experts" do. for that reason, these guys just end up copying each others ideas over, and over, and over. trading steve has been a popular topic this season, just like the trade AI was at the deadline and and I'm sure the McGrady thing will be as well. just this man's opinion, but you should put a lot more credence in what comes out of JVG's mouth than what you'll find the Vecseys and Aldridges writing.

They already indirectly have...or did you miss the "Minnesota is tanking to avoid the Rockets" or the poll thread "Do we match up better against the Kings or the Lakers"? Or was a wrong that we split the season series with LA?

If you want to believe that Derrick Fisher was snubbed when the NBA All Defensive Team was named, feel free. And The Glove resembles one of OJ's these days. I've already placed my bet on Francis being gone as far back as a few weeks after the All Star Game.

So are you going to post everybody's stats against the Lakers in the regular season and playoffs or aren't you?

I need to know who is playing well and who isn't. I can't do that until you list those stats.
