Man, this team is just a machine. They have just taken apart a hell of a defensive team in the Spurs, in their own gym, unbelievable. Kobe Bryant has dominated the best defensive team in the NBA. You know, I picked the Lakers to win this series, I just didn't think it would be in four. JBIIROCKETS ------------------ You can put it on the BOARD.......YESSSSSSSSS! Typically, after a big win, the Lakers have become lax and allowed the opposing team to get a win and usually a big win at that. I expect the Lakers to lose Game 2 tomorrow. But I expected them to lose today as well. If the Lakers do not lose Game 2, then we should all be worried. ------------------ Charles Barkely on the Raptors defeating the Knicks in Round 1 :"I think it was the Lord. Maybe the Spurs should attempt an unusual strategy rarely used by NBA teams, DOUBLE F*CKING KOBE!!! He is one of the best one-on-one players in the league, and always does well because he NEVER faces a double team. It is ridiculous. DOUBLE HIM! Now he broke Hakeem's record of 43 points against the Spurs, thanks a lot, San Antonio. ------------------ The Protrolls.com message boards! Protrolls.com! Don't visit my site.

It was amazing at how deep in the lane Kobe would get before he'd have to worry about the twin towers. This last week has brought back some great memories watching Sam and Robert work their magic for their teams. I have no clue how the hell Horry manages to guard power forwards, but he always seems to manage to hold his own despite giving up so much weight. ------------------ I wrote her this love letter, but she don't know how to reeeaaad!
The Lakers looked awesome, I'll give them that. The fun ends in the Game 2 and 3 though. This series is going to 7. How many series have we seen a team get blown out and come back and win the series? Do the 2 Houston series against Phoenix ring a bell? The Spurs are former champions. This series is going the limit. ------------------ See the three, be the three.
"The Admiral" needs to read his Bible a bit tonight. He'll find that the Lord hates a coward. The Spurs are in no way out, but they looked like a timid bunch of sissies. ------------------

Spurs will still win this in 5. The Lakers won today on three main factors. 1. Kobe playing superhuman 2. SA turning it over countless times in the first half 3. SA, the best 3 pt. shooting team in the league, missing wide open looks over and over again The Lakers played a good game today. But, as good as they played, the Spurs would've been right in the game and probably beaten them if they would've just eliminated the turnovers and hit some of those three's that are usually money. Kobe won't dominate like that again. The Spurs will get better and build on their mistakes. A lot better. So you predict the Spurs to win 4 in a row? 1) It's not like that was the first time Kobe went off on the Spurs. He went for 38 on them the last time they played in the regular season. 2) San Antonio only turned the ball over 15 times which helped the Lakers produce 18 points. The Lakers had 14 turnovers resulting in 11 points. The Spurs and Lakers both averaged around 14 turnovers during the regular season. 3) The Spurs were .416 from the 3 point line during the regular season. In this game they were 5-15, so if they shot like they normally do then that would have meant one extra 3 pointer made. My point is that the Spurs didn't play out of character and turn the ball over more than what they usually. They also didn't shoot that much worse than they usually do, and Kobe going off on the Spurs isn't unheard of. I agree the Spurs will come back strong, but to say that they'll win 4 in a row against a team that hasn't lost since April Fools Day is unbelievable. ------------------ And so castles made of sand slips into the sea, eventually
My point is that the Spurs didn't play out of character and turn the ball over more than what they usually. They also didn't shoot that much worse than they usually do, and Kobe going off on the Spurs isn't unheard of. Stats don't tell the whole story many times-- it's not just the number of turnovers or threes, it's how they come about. The Spurs dug themselves in a huge hole that they couldn't get out of by making poor entry passes to Duncan that were picked off several times. It's those kinds of turnovers that are simply inexcusable. In addition, the looks on threes they got were better than I've seen them get all season long. Out of those 15 threes, hardly any were even contested. The Spurs, if playing within their character, should've made 8 or 9 of those threes, and then they are right in this game. I know winning 4 in a row against the Lakers sounds hard to do, but I honestly believe the Spurs are that good. They match up very well with them, and if they just eliminate the unnecessary turnovers and make the wide open threes, they should win the games. I know Kobe has played well against the Spurs before, but he's never played this dominating, and I seriously doubt he does again. ------------------ President of the Mo Taylor, Jason Collier, and draft Richard Jefferson fan club! Let Kobe get his 40, just keep Shaq under 25 and shut down the rest of the team. Thats easier said then done, but the Spurs are in a must win situation for game 2. I think they'll respond with a vengeance. Stats or no stats, there's no way San An is going to play that badly again. The giant has woken, and its not too late. Great players step it up in the playoffs. Bryant will continue to dominate this series. ------------------ And so castles made of sand slips into the sea, eventually
If Bryant keeps getting single coverage from smaller guards, then you can expect him to average 45 this series. If they play defense on Bryant like they did yesterday in every game, this will be a sweep. ------------------ The Protrolls.com message boards! Protrolls.com! Don't visit my site.
Great players step it up in the playoffs. Bryant will continue to dominate this series. I know he'll play well, but do you really think he'll get 45 and 10 every game? I don't think he'll dominate to that extent, and for the Lakers to win this series, imho he almost has to do that. They can't count on ridiculous Spurs turnovers and missed wide open shots to bail them out again. ------------------ President of the Mo Taylor, Jason Collier, and draft Richard Jefferson fan club! The Lakers are a machine. The only way they can be beater is the same way Shaq was beaten before. You've simply got to out score them. There is only one team that can do it. Milwaukee. and they have matchup problems if Horry guards Big Dog. Philadephia simply doesn't have enough fire power. San Antonio doesn't have enough either. Robinson isn't what he used to be. They need him to be. Charlotte has guts and courage, but they are ripe for the picking. Milwaukee has the firepower to overcome the matchup problem at Center, but I think the Lakers ability to guard big Dog takes away the only inside threat the Bucks have. The Lakers are unbeatable. ------------------ humble, but hungry.
The Sprus definitely played out of character. That wasn't the same Spurs team. They got rattled, they didn't play team ball they tried to play one on one ball, they didn't play good transition defense, and they didn't look prepared to guard Kobe Bryant. All uncharacteristic of the Spurs. The Lakers may not have lost since April, but they're in for a rude awakening, because there is a reason why the Lakers haven't lost since April but still don't have the best record. The Spurs will reclaim homecourt advantage, and probably will win the series. ------------------ See the three, be the three.
So when are you guys going to notice that maybe the Lakers are the reason the Spurs played out of character. Look at how the Lakers destroyed the hopes of the Kings and Blazers. They're doing it again to the Spurs. All you had to do is watch the looks on their faces. The Lakers have this confidence that I've never seen before. They aren't afraid of any team they face, they managed to go into the Alamodome and dismantle the Spurs and force them into playing uncharacteristic basketball. First, all I was hearing was how the Spurs own the Lakers in the playoffs. Now after the Lakers owned the Spurs in game 1, all I'm hearing is how it was a fluke. What's it going to take for you guys to realize that this Lakers team is almost unstoppable? ------------------ And so castles made of sand slips into the sea, eventually
Now you are comparing the Spurs to the Rockets! BLASPHEMOUS! The Rockets never played soft during the championship years hence the famous line - Don't ever underestimate the heart of a champion. The Spurs simply don't have that KILLER INSTINCT. People keep talking about Stats this and stats that. Regular season stats don't mean squat. Spurs need to play tougher and attack the basket. When the great players like Dream, Jordan, Magic, Bird, etc couldn't hit their jump shots, they ALL went strong to the basket. You shoot a better higher percentage shot and gain more confidence. That's exactly what Kobe was doing. When his jumper wasn't hitting, he went for the dunk. He starting heating up and gained more confidence with his regular shots i.e. fade-a-way. David Robinson started out strong then fizzled out. Why? Some people said he stayed out of the game too long. IT'S HIS FAULT. Once he came back in the game, he should have immediately gone strong to the hole and get some better shots, get a rhythm, and gain some confidence. Then start shooting his 15 ft shots. But he's SOFT. The Spurs don't have that fiery guy like a Mario Elie to make them tough. The team now is a bunch of wimps. Spurs are NOT going to win 4 IN A ROW. The Lakers are not going to LOSE at home. Lakers in 5! As for the Rockets! GO LOTTERY BALLS! Go Rockets! ------------------
