we aren’t winning a championship with this roster, so cap flexibility is just fine. i am absolutely ok with criticizing the luxury tax ducking moves while we had Harden. But gaining cap flexibility without Harden is smart. I believe the CBA requires teams to pay at least 90% of the salary cap anyway, so it’s not like clearing a bunch of salary actually saves Tillman much anyway.
it looks like at least Oladipo and Gordon should be available. Probably Brown too. We aren’t sure on Wall or Cousins. Id really like to get House back. Not saying he’s great or anything...just would be nice to have some size and shooting at the 3.
If you just look at who did not play last night, we should feel optimistic about this club. Last nights starting five could not beat the missing five ( Wall, Cousins, Brown, Gordon and House ) Add Oladipo this is a playoff team. Yeah, maybe 7 or 8 seed, but with all the chaos and gloom and doom to just get into the playoffs makes this a fun team to follow. Silas has the team playing hard. The covid protocols and minor injuries have given other players on the job experience. Jones and Tate come to mind. If you look at Kurucs first year Nets highlights and stats, this guy has potential. Again, no WCF but playoff team if they can stay reasonably healthy.
I don’t know why people want to make the playoffs. I honestly would rather a complete rebuild, rip the bandaid off and get young.
This year you risk getting a draft pick outside of the Top 4, which would go to OKC. It makes sense for them to get some assets for a couple of players (PJ, primarily), while still trying to compete for a playoff spot.
You take that chance imo. 50/50 shot to keep top 4. Play the young guys and see what you got, trade the vets that have value for additional picks or young assets. If they make the playoffs, fine. If they bottom out, take the risk.
He probably doesn't. He just knows he is a free agent next year so he might as well finish the year out.
Because there is no way we are top 4 pick bad. That's just the reality. OKC is likely keeping our pick. Might as well compete. We can think about tanking the next two years when OKC doesn't own our picks.
Why do you want the pick so much if you dont know how to draft? If you do know how to draft, then we already have the plenty of picks...
Why do you want to make the playoffs as an 8 seed to get swept and just be an also ran? And if you know how to draft, more picks are a huge asset.
