It should be a good game since these two teams absolutely hate each other. US had dominated Mexico as of late, shutting them out in 5 of the last 6 meetings, however tonight will be tough since the US are fielding an MLS based team, with the only exception being forward Conor Casey. The game will be televised live from Dallas at 7:30 on both FSW and Telemundo.
This game means more for Mexico than the U.S. If the U.S. continues to dominate them what would that say about the state of soccer in Mexico. yes they have the fan base and the tradition but not being able to win at the international level will be a sore spot for them. I think their worst nightmare is for the U.S. to win the WC,which I believe the US will do in the next 14 years.
The US will not win the World Cup in the next fifty years that is for sure but neither will Mexico so everyone is happy
Who would have thought that we could have gone from the laughing stock of the 1998 World Cup to the quarters four years later, then lose to the the runner up Germany due in large part to a hand ball in goal?
if you wanna talk about huge fanbase and everybody playing since their a little kid yet still somehow can't field a decent team look no further than China. inexplicable.
1-0 USA. Eddie Pope puts in a rebound in the final minute of stoppage time. Mexico hasn't scored in the last 434 minutes against us. USA pwns Mexico.
Who was in goal, Keller or Freidel? Sure is strange to have both of the best goalkeepers in the world.
Does anyone know if this is going to be replayed on cable somewhere? I don't get TeleMundo in Indianapolis.
Jonny Walker was in goal for the yanks not a bad victory against the #4 ranked team in the world by FIFA http://www.fifa.com/en/rank/index.html?ttl=480
Late tonight (or *very* early tomorrow), 1 AM CDT/EST (silly Indianans!), Fox Sports World (not to be confused with Fox Sports Net, unfortunately).
Thanks. BTW, the fact that they still use EST isn't nearly as funny as their reasoning for it. I swear to God that they are afraid that the cows won't know when to make the milk when the time changes. I guess Wisconsin cows are smarter than Indiana cows.
I think Tim Howard is being rated higher than both of them now. If you have never heard of him, Tim Howard used to play for the New Jersey Metrostars and now is the goalie of the Manchester United, arguably one of the top three most popular soccer teams in the world.
Tim Howard fan site I think this guy is going to be the starting goalkeeper of the U.S. team in the 2006 world cup.
As someone who knows very little about soccer, what are the chances of Freddy Adu being on the 2006 world cup team? Is this even an option, or is he still a long ways off?
I doubt it'll happen, but its still a possibility, he'll have to improve quite a bit in the next few years. He's set that as one of his goals, but the US have pretty good depth up front.
Howard is probably a little better than Keller right now, but I think Freidel is still the best American keeper. Due to his experience, I think Freidel will probably be in goal for the 2006 World Cup.
Yeah, the other day I got invited to a party But I stayed home instead Just me and my pal Johnny Walker And his brothers, Black and Red Sorry, couldn't resist.
