According to rumor spreaders like Sam Smith, Lakers have to make a hard decision between Kobe and Shaq this off season. Is there any possibility that Rockets trade Yao, Cato and Spoon for Shaq?

Houston will become an instant powerhouse with a lineup like this

    C-Shaq
    PF-MoT
    SF-JJ/Boki
    SG-Cat/JJ
    PG-SF/whoever we pick up

Not bad at all. We will have a leader in Shaq and more than enough inside aggresiveness and toughness. And we don't have to worry Yao's soft side anymore.

For Lakers, Kobe will be happy. They get Yao to attract their Asian population. Yes, they will get some overpaid players and they may have to wait for a couple of years to assemble another competing team, but guess they will start the rebuilding process after swept out of playoff by Spurs again. Anyway, Kobe is still young.

Shaq is not the player he used to be. Sure he is still better than Yao, but he is no longer dominant enough to win a title by himself.

Present day Shaq = Dream (around 98-99)

That's crazy and that's what lakers dream for.
If this trade can be true, the detail will not be ---- Yao, Cato and Spoon for Shaq-----but Shaq,Walton,Rush for YAO.
Then you'll see how lakers dominate the next years.

This would nerver work because Shaq wouldn't let Steve get away with all the balonery he has put Yao Ming through. In fact I imagine there would be a confrontation in which Steve might be forced to end his activities and Basketball Career.

Of course, Shaq wouldn't play like a wuss so he wouldn't need Steve to hold him up closer to the basket so he can score.
