There is always going to be another guy. LOL I pimped RoCo before AG. And before RoCo I was big into Anthony Randolph. I also pushed hard for both Wood and Bruno for many seasons. I also wanted to sign Jeff Green and Jonah Bolden (who???). Not all of these guys pan out obviously. But I was a big proponent of positionless basketball before it became vogue. In all honesty, AG would be better in MDA system as small ball 5.
Who cares. Oladipo isn't Harden. Him wanting out doesn't affect the team in the same way, nor does he have the leverage that Harden had to majorly affect the future of the franchise based on how he's traded and when. Oladipo represents a first round pick at the deadline, or maybe two if it's a team that offers to sign him for the max. For the Rockets he represents a thank you to John Wall, EG, Boogie, and others that want to try and actually be good while we still have a chance to be competitive.
So is this the NBA now? Guys with large expiring contracts and blown up legs get to wage a PR campaign about which team they want to be on? OK.
Miami is 6-10, Rockets 6-9. Thought the Heat were supposed to be good? Anyone suppose Miami's record has or will have an effect on VO desire to be there? And how about Riley? Think he regrets not going all in on Harden? Glad that he didn't? Still thinking he is one guy away? Time to tank?
I really hope we keep him. Unless it's for a too good to be offer of a young guy and picks, I don't think there's a trade there that would get back close value. I know it likely won't happen but Dipo signing on for a contract under $20m is the ideal scenario.
This is the most anticlimatic bump of all time. I came ready to denounce Dipo in Harden-esque fashion.
The Heat have been missing Butler and Herro, although I don't think they're elite regardless. Miami's appeal has historically been more than their record. Butler chose them over us when their record was 39-43 and ours was 53-29. I don't think Riley has buyers remorse as they weren't even close to final negotiations, so I doubt they were close to Brooklyn's package. What would they have had to give up to compete with Levert, Allen, and unprotected picks through the decade?
I'm all for guys getting as much money as they can (it's not their fault the market is the way it is), in this instance.. I with you because I want him to stay haha
