This is what I thought too. This team has a roster full of guys with something to prove and a chip on their shoulders - with as many distractions as there are going to be this year with tracing protocols, it wouldn’t shock me if we go on a run in the regular season.
1. Lakers 2. Clippers 3. Nuggets 4. Jazz 5. Suns 6. Blazers I guess we could beat out the Mavs or Warriors but I doubt it.
I'm ready for it, I really enjoyed the Lowry Rockets (not like the Harden Rockets, but still enjoyable in a different way) that were consistent underdogs and casuals would be surprised when we'd beat the Lakers on prime time. Lowry ended up being recognized as an all star. As long as Wall avoids bad press, we should fly under the radar.
I wouldn't be so fast to declare them a playoffs team. But I agree that we shouldn't tank. We're not gonna be bad enough to get the top 4 picks (unless you are really intentional by playing G-leaguers). Might as well try to get above OKC to avoid the swap. With the pandemic protocols, anything can happens.
My answer to this is like a lot of things in life. I just don't know. Let's play more games and see how this season unfolds.
I really hope we’re a playoff team! I honestly think we’re most likely 9-12 as long as we stay healthy. Best chance is probably Anthony Davis was 220 as a rookie. Now he is 254 pounds. Wood just needs to get his weight up and he should be on a similar trajectory. The bummer is watching him get bullied. Davis honestly knows how to play against him because of what worked against him...
I don’t know. I’m torn at this point. On one hand it is fun to watch the young kids giving their all on the court. On the other hand, I think I’m still in the tank camp. We may be able to make the playoffs, just maybe. But is it worth it? If we’re rebuilding, what’s better than full tank mode and getting into top 4 in the draft? Best to me is to only play the young boys and let them grow, and either trade or load manage the vets: - PJ: we let Harden loose. No point holding on to PJ - Wall/Cousins: came off nasty injuries and should be load managed anyway - Oladipo: a rental we’ll obviously flip at the deadline Then hopefully we get the benefit of both developing our young guns, AND keep our FRP this year
im a half empty guy, so it's too early to tell, esp while we could not make sure whether the rumor as to Oladipo is true or not. i hope we are to move EGo away soon by adding a more reliable shooter, also go for AG who can protect the board, shoot 3s n contain opp's sf like giannis, ljb.
Expectations are lowered. The Rockets making the playoffs would probably be the equivalent of our team getting to the Finals in prior years. It's a realistic goal, but at the same time it would be a tremendous accomplishment if they can do it. It's something to root for and keep this season interesting, that's for sure. Nothing is worse as a sports fan than having to root for your favorite team to lose games.
