i was wondering which sports stadiums you all think are really nice, i have only been to few and want to know which ones i should visit before they arent around anymore. my personal favorites are..... baseball- sbc park( giants) basketball- tc( rockets)/ american airlines arena( mavs) football- reliant( texans)
PNC Park I haven't been to any others except for the one here in Houston. I would like to go to Coors Field. Basketball arenas all seem the same to me. Football, I've only been to the ones here.
I sure liked Reunion Arena for the game experience.... except when it was the Mavs and they sucked. But there wasn't a bad seat in that whole building (owing at least a little bit to the lack of luxury suites driving the upper deck higher and further away). The concourses and stuff were nothing to write home about, of course. The AAC is much nicer in that regard. I've only sat in the lower deck at the AAC, and it was enjoyable. My favorite stadium, though, is the Dr. Pepper/7up Ballpark in Frisco. It's a minor league stadium, obviously, but it's really nice. I loved watching a game out there even though I don't care one whit about the Rough Riders. And the prices aren't too outrageous (they're high for a minor league park, in my opinion). Plus, there's absolutely no chance that you'll get that horrible "Is Mr. Pibb okay?" response when ordering a Dr. Pepper. No! Mr. Pibb is NOT okay!
Baseball - Minute Maid Park Basketball - Toyota Center Football - Reliant Park I dont remember where each of them are located but they look great on TV
Sorry Flyer, I think Turner sucks. It's VERY bland. When I rate ballparks or stadiums, I think of what there is to offer overall, not just the beauty of it. baseball - PNC Park easily; Shreded Field (Enron) second and that's not a home bias. I haven't been out to SBC, but I hear great things. Believe it or not, Montreal's Olympic Stadium isn't bad; I'm not rating it as one of the best, but it really is not a bad place to see a game. basketball/hockey - Philips Arena; alway a great seat (because no one is ever there); didn't care at all for NO Arena; First Union in Philly was nothing; have yet to make it to TC, AAA, AAC, STAPLES, or SBC. football - I refuse to rate NFL stadiums.
Baseball: PNC Park Camden Yards and Yankee Stadium just b/c it is, but that place is in the middle of a freaking war zone. Not smart to hang out around the stadium after games! I thought the Ted was a terrible my self. Basketball: Conseco Fieldhouse - what puts it a step above Toyota is the arena there is setup for basketball. MSG was pretty damn cool I thought. Football: Well, can say that I have not had much fun at the Cotton Bowl for the better part of 4 years now I have season tickets so it may be a shock, aesthetically the stadium is great, but to me Reliant does not have a real stadium/football atmosphere. Love going to the games, but the and sitting on the Club level, but all the distractions, and being enclosed take away from having a true football stadium feel.
I've never been there, but the stadium where the Tampa Bay Bucs play always looked like an interesting place with the pirate ship and cannons and stuff.
Nothing like the M.C.G. on a cold Saturday afternoon during a packed Football match. The atmosphere is awesome. BTW, for those who don't live in Australia, you can find more info here.
correct... but will be better when the new grandstands are complete.. that gap looks so weird... footy park for a showdown is also nice... but nothing beats finals at the G
It's OK. Actually, it's pretty nice. The ship and the cannons and all don't interfere with the game. For the NFL off the top of my head I've been to Tampa, Jacksonville, Miami (Pro Player), old RFK in DC, the Vet in Philly, RCA Dome in Indy, old Memorial Stadium in Cleveland, Texas Stadium and of course Reliant. I'm not as wild about Reliant as most in Houston, but I do like my seats, and it could definitely be worse. No other place really jumps out, although Pro Player and the place in Jacksonville are designed specifically for football and function nicely if soullessly in that capacity. RFK had a cool, run-down sort of vibe to it whose passing I can't help but lament a bit. For the NBA, the Garden hands down. It's great for so many reasons I can't really get into it here, but as a facility for basketball, in my view, it's peerless. Mooch, I really, really enjoyed First Union. I thought it was a really well designed place run by really friendly people. The concourses are especially well done. MCI Center in DC is pretty OK. SBC's OK but bizarrely located. Sad to say, I am totally unimpressed with the Toyota Center. I saw only one game in the old Boston Garden, but that place, the whole vibe there, was amazing. As for baseball, yeah, PNC Park is pretty damn special. It really needs to be because their team sucks so badly. I love walking to the park over the several bridges that span the river from downtown. Camden Yards is OK, but not as awesome as many seem to think, in my view. Fenway of course is a must for vibe, as is Yankee Stadium. By all means go to Shea if you want to see a terrible team play in a terrible stadium. And I actually like Minute Maid an awful lot. I need to get out to the west coast to see some games. PacBell looks great, as do both Seattle's baseball and football stadiums. Their football stadium looks especially cool.
Football: Reliant Stadium Basketball: Staples Center (best looking outside), but I hear the Lexus lounge is really nice in the TC.
I dont know about the best stadium, but I do know the worst football stadium I went to was the old Foxboro Stadium where the Pats used to play up until last year.
It's even nicer inside, I hate the Lakers but they have an awesome crib. Football - I've been to the Metrodome many times and also The Net in Oakland (Which for obvious reasons I enjoyed immensely)
The Camp Nou in Barcelona. And I agree with the Aussies, the MCG is great, and you can't beat Lords for atmosphere and history.
Wrigley Field is my favorite. It’s a very small and intimate ballpark filled with baseball history. Everything from the vines on the brick wall to the apartment buildings in the outfield, make Wrigley as good as it gets. The day games are a lot of fun, especially when you realize that everyone your sitting next to has called in sick that day. The fans are great too, even if the Cubs are in last place the fans are always going crazy. The only thing that I don’t like is when the sun goes down its gets real cold. Even in summer the wind off of Lake Michigan can be brutal.
