"assumes that Harden will be a resident of New York City"

He's not giving up 13+ million.

As Os pointed out, it was already the case as a lot of stars and famous brooklynites embraced the team as soon as they moved. You have celebrities coming to the games every night and they did a good job with the rebrand. Honestly it's a great arena too. They were well received and now that they have a good team, they will take off.

Brooklyn will be 100% behind this team. It's not like the Clippers where they play in the same arena and represent the same geography.

That’s going to change cause Balmer bought the forum and will demolish it and build a new arena next to the rams arena

I doubt it. The Clippers will always be the little stepbrother to the Lakers. The Lakers are like the Yankees. The Clippers are like the Chargers. LA will always leans towards the Lakers.

But the Nets are different. Brooklyn is an entirely different entity than Manhattan and the Knicks will be the king of NY, but the Nets will be the King of Kings County. The Nets were very smart to call themselves Brooklyn Nets instead of the NY Nets.

James Harden will sell more shoes, jerseys and get commercials and endorsements in New York. Plus Harden can sell shoes now in China. The Rockets Merchandise is banned in China, Harden couldn't sell Shoes in China. I think is the main reason he wanted to leave.

Darn less money for clubbing and take those "short Vegas trips". Won't matter regardless because his game is too dependent on the whistle and that has never fared well in the playoffs.

His buddy Durant found that out real quick, but still couldn't get over the hump with his former Thunder team. Can't wait for Harden to throw his diva ways over there to take practices off, whats Durant going to say about that?

Is Kyrie even going to show up to play ball? Meh

Elite players don't care about this, I don't know how many times these articles need to be written. Kevin Durant left low tax Oklahoma for high tax California and NY and hasn't looked back. Same story a bilion times over for elite players in every single sport. But yeah, sure, I bet "giving away Richard Mille watches to my super-rich friends" James Harden is really sweating over his 41 game checks that will now have more state tax witholding.

We all know that . They don't care now...

But in 20 years when he's scratching for cash like ol Scotty, he's going to look back at some of these decisions and cry.

Plus, landing in one of the media capitals of the world will open up more and/or better endorsement deals for Harden.

If he had an actual agent that is. With Monbear at the wheel, who knows?
