I've seen a lot of suggestions that the Rockets can now open up a max slot next season or close to it and keep Victor Oladipo. The salary cap next season is set at $112 million. John Wall's charge: $44.3 million Christian Wood: $13.66 million Oladipo's cap hold while he's a free agent: $31.5 So between just those three players you are at $89.5 million. If you assume they let PJ go, trade House for nothing and manage to move Gordon this year for expirings (so literally clear EVERYTHING) they would still get hit with roster charges for incomplete roster spots of $916,276 per spot. In the scenario above they'd have another $10+ million in roster charges! So in a best case scenario where they cleared the decks but keep Wall, Dipo and Wood, they'd maybe have $13m or so in salary cap space to sign a player before hitting the cap.
31 m while.he is a free agent but with his injury history we may get him for less maybe 4 year $80 million
I would rather let him walk than keep him on the books? What is the point? Trade him for draft picks soon. Edit: I just realized the point of this thread.
LOL Re-signing Dipo would be the height of incompetence. He is only a year or 2 younger than Harden. If Rockets are rebuilding around him then we are fvcked.
We are screwed either way. Welcome to the pre harden days where we hover in the 12th to 17th pick world.
To be clear I'm not suggesting they should do that. But I've seen it suggested that we can Dipo and add a max player and that's simply not true.
this is tilman's plan. he wants to be just above the salary floor next year. and we have our own pick in 2022 so no reason to be good. oladipo probably gets traded for another expiring deal and picks by the deadline.
I don't see him getting re-signed. Hayward got 4-years, 128 million with far less performance. Oladipo will get paid well, and there will be teams willing to pay him much more than us.
I would be shocked if Tilman keeps Dipo. If you're arguing for a reasonable contract, then they would have just kept Levert for 3 years and $52M. They got Dipo so that if a trade doesn't pan out, then he'll just be off the books and renounced as a UFA. I think they're going to suck and have low team salary for 3 years - try to get a 1-4 pick this year to screw OKC and not have to give OKC anything until 2024. He'll, they could keep sucking in 2024 and shoot for a top 4 pick again. Technically, if they suck so badly for the next 6 years, they could only end up losing 3 second round picks to OKC. Welcome to Donald Sterling's Clippers.
Do we have to wait on a leaked telephone call to get rid of tilman then aswell? Some hot girl on here willing to slide into Tilman's DMs?
