Time's change, medicine get's better. Players can play at a high level. You are gambling for one surefire good pick. That's it...maybe two.

Harden is a gym rat but he's not intelligent/obsessed with keeping his body performing like Lebron. The thing about Harden running the stairs in the hotel at the bubble is an example. That's high impact on his joints. That kind of stuff catches up with you. And again, the partying and whatnot can catch up with you too. Plus how he showed up this season doesn't inspire confidence he'll have the discipline to take care of his body as it continues to get harder to do.

If you are going to say the McMahon, etc. reporting is completely false the absolute most charitable analysis of the situation is that those guys talked about how much they wanted to play together, Russ had the best stretch of his career, and within 1 year they didn't care about playing together anymore and Russ wanted to go to the Wizards to play with Beal.

When Melo was 31 nobody thought he would be complete doodoo and almost out of the league by 33.

I would have rather had Harden stick around but I was worried about him seriously declining by 2024 when OKC starts getting our picks.

And like I also commented, if Morey was convinced James can keep performing at an elite level and be a cohesive teammate he'd have met our price and Harden would be in Philly.

What Chris Paul had issues before he got to Houston. Same with Howard, Same with Westbrook. No one has said Harden was a bad teammate until he actively tried to be to get out of here. Im done talking about this because yall hate the man so much you think he's bound to fail, despite seeing what is was like when he had a costar who could actually win. Enough...

I think he will elite for another 3-4 years at minimum because of how his game is built. This is part of the reason I would have liked to get a young player like
Simmons back. Most of the picks could end up being late.

This is EXACTLY how the NBA works.

You are either a contender or might as well tank for talent.
Teams go parabolic when they have max salary slots and picks owed.

It is just a matter of using them wisely rather than sitting on your hands (Boston)

We are not contending anytime soon no matter who we would have gotten.

You're the one who predicted we will get only 1 high pick from the Brooklyn trade right?

Now it's "gambling" lol. Draft is always a gamble ever wonder why they called it a lottery?

We wont flip Simmons if we got him he is too valuable to flip if we got Simmons we are building around and trying to contend with him as centerpiece.

My guess is that Stone as a new GM actually might have preferred the Nets deal so he has more flexibility to build the team he wants rather than get locked into another team with issues.

This will take until 2030 to compete

Hopefully the Rockets get a Franchise Point Guard, Sharpshooting SG

Blueprint of the Warriors Stephen Curry, Klay Thompson, Draymond Green

Atlanta Hawks with their Depth Trae Young, Can Reddish, DeAndre Hunter, John Collins

Luka Doncic, Trae Young is a Starting Point

Again he’ll still be good but by the time he reaches the end of the time with the nets he won’t be a true elite anymore. He very well could be gone in 2022 after they won a title or the team just implodes. He is already drifting down the rankings for many sports outlets

It’s not 8 picks. It’s 4 picks and 4 swaps. And we’re not going to build a GS team as long as Tilman is the owner. Even if the Rockets happen to get lucky and draft a young star or two, as soon as they’re ready to get paid Tilman will ship them out to save money. As long as he’s the owner the Rockets will be a dumpster fire. Just a sad thing for sports and Rockets fans.

Compared to what the Lakers got for 1 year of AD and Clippers for 2 years of PG, Rockets deal seems inferior but fairly appropriate... credit to @J.R. since the details are from his posts awhile back.

    Anthony Davis:
    Lonzo Ball
    Josh Hart
    Brandon Ingram
    cash
    2020 4th overall pick (De'Andre Hunter)
2021 1st round draft pick (protected for selections 8-30 in 2021 and unprotected in 2022)
2023 1st round draft pick (right to swap)
2024 1st round draft pick (option to defer 2024 first-round pick to 2025)

Davis had one year left + player option (which he just declined & obviously will re-sign with LA.)

    Paul George:
    Danilo Gallinari
    Shai Gilgeous-Alexander
2021 1st round draft pick (Miami's unprotected pick)
    2022 1st round draft pick
2023 1st round draft pick (right to swap with LAC)
    2023 1st round draft pick (Miami's pick; protected for selections 1-14 in 2023, 1-14 in 2024 and 1-14 in 2025 and unprotected in 2026)
    2024 1st round draft pick
2025 1st round draft pick (right to swap with LAC or HOU)
    2026 1st round draft pick

George had 2 years left + player option.

Jrue Holiday to MIL for three firsts and two pick swaps.
Holiday has one year left + player option.

Alot of gambling on him declining and the Nets imploding. Gamble....Harden is very skill based, we'll see what happens but I think peopel are going to be surprised.

Are we gonna act like there were other extenuating circumstances and that Russ was trash in the playoffs? Russ leaving is not simply a James Harden issue, that's a Russ issue. He also had issues with ownership too.

Again Im not saying it wont happen, but there is a lot of gambling going on.

Last I saw that adds up to 8 picks involved in the deal that leads to the rockets controlling the nets draft for 7 more years. How that’s difficult for some of you to understand is beyond me

It all comes down to what was final philly offer before we agreed with the Nets, Was it Thybulle, Simmons and picks? Rockets wanted Maxey also and 76ers said nah, So they moved on?

There was no way we were going to trade him to Philly. That is like admitting you Morey kicked your ass.
