Probably some type of ego thing where he wants reclamation projects otherwise he'll get bored at Bama. Saban knows that he has the best athletes in the country so it really doesn't matter what types of plays that you call. If BoB wants to run the ball up the middle every 1st down, that's fine at Bama because they have the biggest o-line and most athletic RBs.
It's absolutely hilarious what they're saying about O'brien in the Crimson Tied forum: "it would be more Pro-style. If it was his offense, which it won't be, it would be a very sophisticated NE Pat type offense, with incredible sophistication in the route-running. Doubt that he would be able to fully duplicate that with college kids with limited practice time. The QBs and WRs really have to be sync'ed up to be successful but would be impossible for college D to stop. Bama's O would look like 3 DS's running wide open on every play. O'Brien is a great QB coach with every bit the intelligence and sophistication of Sark, with a better resume. Another great thing is that like Sark, OB incorporates the running game into his offense. When I heard the news I was thinking: "This guy hasn't had a good offense without Tom Brady. Not at Penn State. Not at Houston. The offense got better after he was fired."
BOB was clearly overmatched as a NFL head coach and probably a NFL assistant too..... I actually think BOB is more of a college football type of coach with his personality and controlling ways that get old real quick at the pro level.
I expect O’Brien to do very well at Bama. 5 star talent at every position. Within two years O’Brien will probably be a head coach at a power five school. I do look forward to seeing O’Brien getting his ass chewed out by Saban
