Well atleast he plays defense something James dont know how to do. Did i say top 10, i mean Top 20, who can play defense my bad.
Because our goal this year is to tank, and Allen will demand a large contract the coming off season, which Tilman has no interest for sure to give him. So trading this expiring contract for Exum and an FRP is not too bad.
Personally rather have the +$20 mil off the books that comes with dipo. I do like levert though. One of the better scorers in the league
Oladipo expiring means cap space to take on bad contracts for more picks or sign another Wood so, you should consider more than just the players, and we also got a 1st rounder unrpotected for Allen who's expiring in a spot we don't have a need. Overall this part of the trade is more: Oladipo + cap space (= more pick/s or a free agent) + 1st rounder > LeVert + Allen
Don’t you have to spend at minimum 90% of cap? I’m sure the savings are in the millions but I really don’t believe he is simply trying to cut salary at the cost of the team. More likely the team wants to completely rebuild. They don’t want intermediate guys who may make them better than they want to be for draft considerations after this season. Wouldnt surprise me if we just develop around wall until those high draft picks hopefully get cashed in. Trade Tucker, ego, house
Ideally, we either need to be really bad or if that is not possible (which it doesn't seem like it) then we need to be better than OKC although being slightly worse than them is not the end of the world since it is just a pick swap this offseason. It really might be a good year to tank but just too risky. I know the veterans on this team will be looking to make a run now that the Harden saga is over. Likely a .500 team if everyone is on the same page so that likely gets us just out of the playoff race.
I’ll be happy to see a player take a variety of shots and moves off the ball - Harden standing dribbling , step back 3 or layup was getting old. no floater no right hand layup .. no midrange .. no post ups .. Predictable
That's what it comes down to... If you're going to rebuild, get rid of everyone with a contract past year 2.
I agree. I was excited about adding Allen after seeing how soft Wood is and how antagonized Boogie is by the refs. Maybe they can pick up Dedmon with the cap savings
This trade was never about getting better. In fact, it was never even about trying to stay competitive. We're in a thinly disguised rebuild, folks. Like I said in a thread a couple months back: For those who have wanted Harden and Morey gone, I hope you enjoy your Houston Knicks.
I really wished we got Allen since it’s pretty clear Woods (and Cousins) need a defensive big next to them.
I could go either way on Dipo vs. Levert with all the factors. There is nothing to spend cap space on this summer and some teams projected to have it so Allen could end up getting a pretty ridiculous contract.
oladipo is shooting 34% in january plus he is injury prone, and nobody will give up a young talent for him
Not a move of talent IMO until he proves it, I think the fact that he is an expiring contract plays a role in the decision here. Not sure how much cap flexibility this ultimately gives us though.
