One can look at how Chris Paul handled the trade. He took the Thunders team to playoff consisting of young players by motivating them and instilling confidence while probably requesting trade behind the scene. Compare that to Harden here, who has just given up on team in public.

 

Wall has no room to talk when he's been complete garbage the last 2 games. That's the whole point. When Harden is garbage, he can still offer you something. When Wall is garbage, he's absolute garbage.

We're basically relying on Harden going off most nights just to scrape wins. I don't think Harden can be bothered to do that anymore.

And Wall says all the right things but he is a distant 3rd on most important players for the Rockets.

Trading Harden will not fix the real problem, that Wall is poor fit for Silas system. He cannot be the most ball dominant player. He really should be coming off the bench.

Before Harden said what he said, you all were thinking this:

 

At least the guy is engaged enough to be frustrated. If he didn’t care, he wouldn’t say anything. Especially making $40+ mill per year. The Harden Era Is over and it ended when Morey and MDA were allowed to walk for a newbie coach & newbie GM.

 

Take any contender with a new coach and an MVP candidate on it... then remove 20 ppg and any defensive effort, and see what it looks like.

I would guess that they would all be in a similar boat, and they would all have a high upside.

We can say he didn't want to be here, sure, but he still checked out. CP3 didn't really want to be in OKC either but he balled out for them and pulled them as far as they could go.

 

The thing is it's just been a combination of bad things from James. There's no denying he's out of shape right now. Go watch highlights from last season regular season and it looks like a different person. His energy on the court is subpar, and his off court behavior with the media jaded and checked out. His indifference to covid protocols unprofessional and entitled.

At some point you just have to cut your losses and move on. That time is now.

It could be very true he absolutely wanted to be a Rocket when (IF) he told John Wall that. Im sure you have wanted something and then after tasting it, realize you didn't want it anymore. Second of all, he never said "I dont want to be on the Rockets". Those words didn't come out of his mouth, unless I missed another press conference. You putting those words in quotes is more of a lie than you're accusing him of.

Imagine pinning hopes on the arrival of John Wall and Boogie Cousins to take you to the promised land lol.

I actually respect him for wanting to leave. It means he cares about winning a ring. Because there is no way in hell this team is winning one with Tilman at the helm.
