Is this the same Covginton who shot a worse TS% than Westbrick? ppl forgot how bad he shot for us last year.
Nah he makes his money by being overhyped. Tucker can't get an extension worth 7M and Roco supposed to be worth 12M while shooting 30% from the 3? 3nD with no 3 for 12M a year LMAO. In CF if a player leaves you he automatically becomes a franchise player while if a player signs with Houston he automatically becomes trash.
Everybody needs scoring. We got James Harden one of the best scorers in NBA history and even we need even more scoring. Just ask Portland if they're happy they gave up 2 FRP for Robert Covington.
My point is that Portland is loaded with scoring and he doesn’t have a prominent role in that offense. The dynamic of that team is different than how rockets used him.
Ehh he is a pretty damn good post defender. He is a good perimeter defender for a 3/4 but he is exposed when he has to spend 90% of the time on the perimeter. He would be a huge upgrade for the Rockets over what they have if he starts hitting his three point shots. He didn't hit them for the Rockets last year in the regular season and he isn't hitting them for the Blazers either so far.
Not missing you....at all: Robert Scrubington Exactly what part of 6.5 points, 6 rebounds on 35% shooting and 30% from 3 do you miss? He can’t score, can’t shoot, can’t create, can’t dribble, can’t drive, can’t pass. Might as well play 4 on 5 on offense.
Covington is a good defender, not great. Offensively he is nowhere close to Wood in terms of being able to dribble and get to the bucket for layups and dunks. Covington had stretches where he would get hot from the perimeter and also had long stretches where he was cold and couldn’t knock down shots. Way too inconsistent in my opinion. Plus, he’s one dimensional as a shooter, whereas Wood is much more versatile. He definitely didn’t have the ability to get up for alleyoops like Wood, which makes Wood a much more exciting player to watch in my opinion
Agree with this. Think we asked RoCo to do a bit too much. We were ridgid with the Switch defense. When it was apparent that Cp3 was hunting for RoCo, should have adjusted where CP3's man fight over the screen and continue to defend CP3. RoCo can play regular NBA Defense in Portland. 12mil is not overpay for a solid starter who is a 3&D in this league. It's just seems high here, because we're cheap and team is close to hard capped.
Found the guy that didn't watch the game. Roco was getting bodied all game by Siakam, dropped a triple double on his head.
He won't be given a prominent role cuz he is shooting 30% from 3. If Woods was shooting 30% he wouldn't be played as well.
Rockets leaders in Win above replacement last season Harden : +19.8 Covington : +5.8 Tucker : +4.4 Judging people by field goal percentage, points, rebounds and assists continues to be prevalent on a Houston Rockets message board. Wild. Wake up people.
It was only for half a season but Covington was one of my favorite Rockets. At the same time, I have no problems with moving him to get Christian Wood. Much higher ceiling with Wood and that is what this team needs right now.
Riiight... It’s been over a decade people. Our organization was the trailblazer for this **** and some of you guys are still out here deciding if a player is good or not based on traditional box score numbers. It’s ridiculous. Based on box score numbers Westbrook is one of the best players in the league now and ever. We know that isn’t true. Wake the f up.
Add Wood and KEEP Covington - that's a move that makes you better. Trading Capela for Covington then getting Wood is just spinning your wheels to try and make it look like you're doing your job.
Wood is younger and more talented than both. He's paid less than Capela and we netted a 1st round pick as we only gave up one to acquire Covington but got two from Portland to unload him. I liked Covington a lot, but this isn't spinning wheels. It's a clear upgrade and good asset management. This was a Morey level move. I don't even know if we could have retained both Wood and Covington with the hard cap anyway.
