Trump was a democrat for a long time but switched over to being (supposedly) a Republican several years ago. I have always thought that was an intentional move as due to his inherent racist nature, Trump identifies more with conservatives than liberals. I think he also felt that it would be easier to manipulate people who have hate in their heart and like someone else said, he saw that train coming down the pike with the tea party and all the birtherism crap.

Trump's legacy will go down as being the worst President that this country has ever seen - even worse than Buchanan and Andrew Johnson. The only good thing that will come out of it is that his Presidency has exposed what a joke this country is when it comes to prejudice, racism, and xenophobia. In other words, we have a LOOOOOOOOOOOONG way to go - we are in the freaking 21st century and not the late 1800's - it is time to really believe that all men are truly created equal in our hearts and it not be some type of lip service.
