Yeah, I know I'm starting to go crazy with these stats, but what can I say? It's the off-season and why not talk about something a bit different?

While sitting at Hooters with some friends, we started discussing rebounding (as well as other stuff I won't mention here). Anyway, our discussion (d)evolved to "Is there anybody in the league getting relatively substantial playing time who averages more offensive rebounds than defensive rebounds"? First thing I thought was... "yeah, right". That would be ridiculous. NAY, PREPOSTEROUS I SAY! Well, I decided to find out. I came home, took my clothes off and immediately ran a query (yeah, go ahead... laugh... bastids).

I then put some clothes on...

And ya know what? There is 1 player in the league who averaged more than 25 minutes per game that actually has more offensive rebounds than defensive rebounds (if my numbers are correct, which is not necessarily a given. LOL!)...

Anyone care to guess who that may be (without cheating and looking it up!) [IMG]

Elton Brand led the league in offensive rebounds. That's the best I can do without cheating.

My first guess would George Lynch. The guy is a machine on the offensive glass. He doesn't average a whole lot of rebounds altogether, since he is only a SF, but I do remember reading somewhere about his offensive rebounding tactics.

I know its not right to guess more than one player, but my other choices would Elton Brand or Camby. Brand averaged more than 10 rebs, and I would be flabbergasted out of my mind if he averaged more than 5 off. rebounds/game.

Since we're on the subject of tidbits, allow me to add one more. Not a trivia question, but more a useless factoid.

Did you know Jason Kidd averaged more rebounds this season than 17 of the starting 29 Power Forwards averaged? Thats just amazing.

Wait a minute.... doesn't Francis lead all guards in off rebounds? Oh man, that would be freaky...

I would guess it would be a guard. Post players are always around the boards, but I would guess there may be a guard who stumbles onto an occasional long offensive rebound.

If you could get a list of all players in the league that averaged over 25 minutes and played in over 30 games last season, then find whose ratio of offensive rebounds to defensive rebounds were the highest, Steve would be #14 out of approximately 141 players. As a matter of fact, he's the only PG you see on the list until you get to #40 where you find Andre Miller (another rookie!).

Ruben is a monster. I used to watch him back when I went to Cincinnati (also got to see Kenyon in his junior and senior years.) Even I had no idea how great an NBA player he would be.
