apparently people mistake "via Getty" (referencing a photo source) with someone's name, and it started a meme. That's why I still browse D&D and twitter ... I'm a meme junkie.

 

Ted needs to be removed from the Senate and given the respect of someone like a David Duke. In his own slick way Ted is more like Trump than a normal ethical person. This statement is so similar to Trump's last statement about the rule of law and peaceful transition. No credit for his "death bed conversion" hollow statement to calm things down.

I'm playing this game right now and that made me really tense.

 

This is a very interesting video. The rioters start out as peaceful innocents who wished no harm. But by the end, they show their true colors. The rioters wanted by force to prevent Congress from certifying the EC vote. This was not a protest. This was sedition plain and simple.

 

"Your honor, I would like assert my Constitutional right of White Privilege to not be sent to hard time in a Federal prison where I will be sodomized on a daily basis by large angry Black Men."

That is the median household income which by definition means that half is below that. Further that median white income is based on all white households and not just looking at rural households. According to the Rural Economic Service the average annual rural income in 2018 was around $36,000 which is about $20,000 less than the average income for all of America.

More importantly though that other groups are suffering shouldn't delegitimize the problems of Rural America. And yes in many cases these are similar problems. The situation with what we've seen the last few decades is the weaponization of the grievances of one particular sector's grievances and for a master marketer and demogue that was ripe for Trump to exploit.

From talking to these people and looking at the problems facing rural MN and WI it seems like the message of Bernie Sanders and other Progressives could have resonance there. The problem as stated is that economic issues have become culture war issues. So issues regarding the mortgage crisis and outsourcing are also conflated with immigration and religious value. They too believe that rich billionaire fatcats are responsible for their problems but they also believe these fatcats aren't just out there economically but are pushing Leftist values of political correctness from places like California on them too.

HRC was wrong to suggest all his supporters were deplorable, but for the thugs who stormed our Capitol, like those pictured here, what term would you use? "Losers" and "idiots" come to mind. "Deplorables" ain't too bad a fit.
