Breaking 1-06-21: MAGA terrorist attack on Capitol

Out of curiosity do you believe for instance that it is a truth that A man landed on the moon for instance or there was a Holocaust?

 

The issue is that the Armed Forces Commander in Chief is the President of the United States. He can simply tell them to stand down and do nothing. I wouldn't be surprised if trump, through surrogates acting on his orders, secretly prevented the preparations which should have prevented the assault and looting of the Capital. trump wanted it to happen.

While it was going on, reports from inside the White House from numerous sources was that trump was delighted with the riots and sacking of the capital and was very excited about it. He couldn't understand why his staff didn't share how he felt and that they were very worried. Most were horrified and filled with disbelief. Understandably so.

It isn't like the means to have prevented the unprecedented catastrophe couldn't have been quickly brought to action, and ahead of time. There was more than ample warning that this was going to occur. It was all over fringe social media and the FBI certainly would have known about it, but orders have to be given, and the FBI isn't who would be used in a situation like this. They would provide the intelligence. The intelligence has to be acted on. I would bet money that the warning was given and ignored.

I'll add, again, that it was trump who gave his rabid followers the go ahead and the courage to launch the attack. He did it at the rally he held just before it happened. He even said that he would be with them. A lie, of course. trump went in the opposite direction to the safety of the White House, watching the events he orchestrated unfold on multiple big screen monitors.

 

Can the USA and Biden just elope and hold the ceremony at another time?

Very good point. The Capitol was almost criminally negligent at best not prepared and will be blamed. However, from what I hear from a friend who has been arrested numerous times in Washington DC the Capitol Police are very well trained in de-escalation tactics. We may never know how many guns the intruders had, but if the outnumbered Capitol Police had escalated and opened up with their handguns there may have been dozens or hundreds even killed. A significant of the intruders would have welcomed that as in their fantasies that is why they have their guns to begin with.
