We got a championship out of it... granted, no thanks to Giles in the playoffs.

Can we call the Blue Jays "Astros Canada" with Springer, Biggio, and Gurriel?

It is really underappreciated just how good Devenski was in 2016-2017. He was an elite elite reliever; over those 2 seasons, only 5 RP (Osuna, Miller, Kimbrel, Chapman, and Betances) accumulated more fWAR.

Not sure about "under appreciated"... he was dynamite during his early appearances when nobody had seen his stuff. His performance would then tail off dramatically as the season went on, whether it was due to fatigue, injury, or hitters being more prepared to not swing at the changeup.

In the end, he slotted about where he should be. In the tier behind Harris/Pressly/closer (Giles, Osuna). He was called upon to try and save the greatest Astro game ever (game 5 vs. Dodgers)... one strike away... but blew the 3 run lead and the save. He did save game 2 with a nail biter... which prior to game 5 was the greatest Astros game ever.

4 MLB years. -0.2 career WAR.

Wojciechowski did post a 1.5 WAR in 2019.

Astros: Sign-stealing scandal affecting Marwin Gonzalez’s employment?

Former Houston Astros utility man extraordinaire Marwin Gonzalez does not have a job.

Now, he sits and waits. Waits for a call and an opportunity. One wonders if the radio silence he is receiving is because his one great year was attached to a cheating scandal.

Feels like the only rumors revolving around Gonzalez this year have been those putting the Boston Red Sox as a possible fit. That is, until the Sox signed Enrique Hernandez to a two-year contract.

The more likely reason for his unemployment is that he is entering his age 32 season coming off of a .211/.286/.320 season, and he hasn’t been able to play SS in over 2 years. So he’s a 1B/2B/3B/LF utility player who projects to be a below average hitter.
