That cost was incurred the moment Trump was sworn in. He was never going to leave willingly and whoever came after would have had to pickup the pieces. Trump is a passing threat, albeit with lasting consequences. But the real threat is the GOP and the **** they have been putting this country through in recent times - the Bush election and imaginary weapons of mass destruction, the obstructionist actions during Obama, politicization of the Judiciary, vote suppression and gerrymandering, etc. Trump is just another in a long list of **** the GOP has done to damage democracy. Instead of wasting time on things that have zero chance of happening, I would rather work be done to cripple the GOP and stop it's attack on our institutions. While the Democrats are wasting time grandstanding, seems the GOP are already trying to manipulate the narrative to their benefit by claiming it was Antifa that stormed the capitol building.
The way to heal is to start by removing this deranged man from office and charge every signal person that entered the Capitol illegally.

Honestly the preference is because 25th amdt effectively immediately gets him out of power, pending the weird process. Impeachment is process then removal. He can wreak mayhem during the process. No reason not to do both, btw.
