Could Belichick work out a release from the Pats with clearance to go to Houston like Morey got to go to Philly? I could see him wanting to skip over an ugly rebuild in New England... haven't seen any mention but seems like something he would do.... Personally i would prefer someone younger...
Belichick pulled a Morey before pulling a Morey was even a thing... (when he quit as Jets HC to join the Pats).
If you have a top 5 QB it's not a rebuild... the Texans are 3 players and better coaching away.. RB Pass Rusher Outside LB Run stopping Tackle Offensive Line Coach The secondary would be a lot better with health and qbs not being given 4-5 seconds in a clean pocket...
I don't know that Bellicheck is an all world coach without an all universe QB.... History says maybe he's not.
and work FOR Caserio? No chance. If that were some kind of thinking Cal should have gone direct to Belichek and offered the same deal he offered Asschin and actually had a person who deserved that type of responsibility, but Cal McNair is not smart enough to think for himself and pull of those kinds of stunts.
He’s an all world defensive coordinator. he’s never been hands on with the offense... hence why they actually started Cam Newton all season.
I speculated on this back when they fired BOB - I don't think it's crazy. You can bash the Texans' situation all you want - it is night-and-day better than New England's. Both teams are strapped - right now - for resources to re/build - but New England has almost *nothing* in the cupboard. It is a bad, aging team with no QB and no clear path to get a QB - but probably, with Belichick, just enough to be a 6/7/8-win team and stay in perpetual mediocrity. If Belichick came here, he'd have Watson and I guarantee you, the offensive line and defense would improve overnight. And Fuller + Cooks would be one of the better WR corps he's ever had (Cooks was very productive with Belichick). It would not shock me. I just can't imagine a 70-year Belichick wants to tear it all down in New England and rebuild (which is their *only* path forward).
I get the feeling that Bill's "Patriot Way" was basically having Tom Brady. Sort of like the Triangle Offense in basketball is really awesome when you have either Michael Jordan or Kobe Bryant.
I think it's more involved than that - Belichick is a tremendous coach. But, yeah... having the GOAT helps *a lot.* And if he came here. he'd have a GOAT-ish.
