I'm having this long text conversation with my Dad who is a devouted Trump supporter simply because my Dad has been a life-long Republican. Before he would tell me that even if I don't trust Trump that I should be able to trust Mike Pence because he stands for integrity and doing the right thing. Last night, he even told me that Pence will be the real American Hero who will overthrow Biden's vote, blah, blah, blah! So today, the moment Pence (and McConnell) turned their back against Trump, I texted my dad, "So... what now?" His response to me, "Pence is a traitor to the American people!" Wow! So I mentioned to him, "So a traitor like McConnell, or Amy Cohen and the Supreme Court and all the judges that Trump personally appointed?" My Dad just started ranting that I need to wake up to reality and drink coffee and all that stuff LOL! It's astonishing I swear, I don't know how Trump brainwashed my Dad and all his supporters this bad, but my Dad is now turning against the Republicans he's followed all his life, all in the name of Trump.
I like that optimistic take/spin. If a network like Fox... If a politician like the Turtle... If a bunch of otherwise peaceful Trump voters... if some significant group of them can look at this in horror, then it might serve a purpose. To me, that is still an "if." I hope Limbaugh, smart toad that he is, can look on at this and wonder what his divisiveness has to do with it. Probably beyond him though.

I mean Trump adminstration has control over them, no? Trump is consistent in his hate and you know he won't help people he resents which at this point is the majority of people that were working on counting the votes.

Don't these places have sensitive material for Intel committees? It seems like beyond personal security, there is a matter of national security. Also the president puts out a weak tweet and doesn't address the nation or his supporters. I remember when some posters on this board argued that he was a strong leader.
Local law enforcement is outnumbered at the moment. The national guard has been asked to intervene but the dod won’t release support without executive approval.
only reason it's not even more violent is because the police didn't escalate the situation like the do with "other" protest
