This is a surprisingly nice hire for Auburn, especially after reports that several targets withdrew or declined interviews.
It won't matter. Alabama is still going to win. O'Brien will get undeserved credit for it just like he did from being the OC for Tom Brady. What do you think of Sark? From an outsider perspective, I just see the latest dude to jump on the Saban gravy train but I only see Alabama play 1-2 times a year.
I think he has done an outstanding job as our OC. Bama's offensive numbers over the past couple of years have been insane and we'll have to credit with Sark for the play calling and offensive schemes. Everyone thought there would be a huge drop off at Bama this year on the offensive side of the ball since they lost Tua/Ruggs/Jeudy(and Waddle due to injury) but the offense has actually been better. I'm glad he's getting another shot to coach but I'm a little surprised Texas chose him. Personally, I don't see a huge upgrade from Herman but I haven't watched much of Texas football over the past few years. I imagine a huge factor in dismissing Herman is the current recruiting class. I'm sure it didn't sit well with the regents that Mac Brown's current Tarheel class is ranked higher than the Longhorns. A&M's recent success doesn't help either and I'm sure there are more politics behind closed doors that we don't know about as well. I'm just hoping he doesn't take half of our staff with him like all the rumors are saying. Also, I wished this announcement happened after the Championship game so he can be fully focused on beating Ohio State but it is what it is.
Recruiting was a factor but Herman’s ego did him in. He alienated everyone that was left in his corner.
That is a really nice hire by Franklin. Herman was a complete idiot and kept his hand on the wheel for a large part of the season.
Destroyed a franchise & will somehow get another HC job after attending Nick Saban Rehabilitation Center.
