I agree with this but if I had to put free agent top caveats in an order I would say. 1. Money 2. Competing for a championship 3. Culture/methodology of organization 4. Location
We've been 1 star player away from winning a championship and almost beat one of the best teams ever assembled. We paid CP ALOT of money so that wasnt the problem. Also Texas has no state income tax so location has never been a issue The only problem has been the culture created by Daryl Morey. JJ Reddick alluded to it and its well known around the nba. Paying PJ can change that
As I stated in a previous post in this thread I think Houston should take a wait and see approach when it comes to Tuck. Should Houston take care of Tucker? Absolutely, but taking care of Tucker doesn't necessarily mean just paying the man. Taking care of Tucker could mean trading him to the (insert name of contender team here) as well. I don't think it's as black and white as you may believe bro. Only PJ knows if he wants the ring over the money or the money over the ring. End of the day it's his life and his legacy...
Iffy statement at best. I agree that he’s less of a certainty going forward at this point and that the Rockets need to do what is best for future of the team, but let’s not act like he’s chopped liver! Maybe he shouldn’t be starting with major minutes, but in crunch time, time tested soldiers are a premium! He belongs in the rotation at 20-25 minutes in my opinion, more than that and I think he’s actually hurting the team. My take is 3yrs for 30million with a team option on the 3rd yr. Seems fair to me while still having a good tradable contract if things don’t work out... ....... ....... .......
I believe the issue is the organization promised him a contract and then reneged. If that's true, then they need to follow through
The Rockets and Tuck were in contract negotiations a couple of weeks back. But both sides were really far apart so I heard.
Tilman is the cheap-ass here. He hated the CP3 contract and soured on Chris Paul after the 2nd year didn't have the same success as the Chris Paul's first year.. The same cheap-ass mentality is why PJ isn't getting extended.
And PJ shouldn’t be extended he’s washed now. Dude played 30+ minutes and didn’t even score 1 point. Hasn’t even scored more then 10 all year. Oh and he’s turning 36 soon
Unfortunately for Tucker there are guys on this team who does the clean up job a lot better and more effectively from a cost prospective. In my opinion, reporting to camp late damaged his “glue” guy reputation.
If Tucker’s agent can find a team willing to give him the extension he wants, I think it would be good to trade him there for any reasonable return just to do right by him. I love the guy as a player, but there’s no way I’d be extending him if I were the Rockets. He’s just too specialized of a player to invest heavily in at 36 years of age.
Not the only player with subpar game but truly awful game from PJ tonight. He hasn't been hurt so no excuse.
Good thing RUHFELL didn’t (or hasn’t) extend him. Then they’d be blaming Tilman for that terrible contract. @Bobbythegreat
