Casey Thompson and Sarkasian seem like a match in heaven. I'm just worried about the defense. We haven't had a great defense in a while. We keep hiring DC that bring energy but very few brought discipline. We haven't had discipline since Robinson took over for the half season at the end of Mack Brown's tenure.
Sites are reporting that the current staff, minus Drayton who is 99% staying, will know their fate by Wednesday. Barry Odom as DC just surfaced today as well. That would a big time hire if true.
Right and I’m fine with that. Will say Hand is one of significance given how poorly he coached and recruited his time here. OL and DC will be the 2 most important hires Sark makes IMO.
OL, WR, and DB coaching were pretty awful. Some of the names being thrown around would be huge improvements but also seem unlikely.

Reminds me of when we got Herman and the names that were being thrown around. Only to end up with his UH crew + Tim Beck.
Herman and Strong both completely screwed up their hires to say the least. Strong hired Watson; Herman hired Beck. Some people were rightfully worried following those announcements. I'm reserving judgment on Sarkisian until I see his staff - no benefit of the doubt anymore.
Strong fired Akina who's one of the best college DB coaches ever. That is when I knew he wasn't going to work. Ugh.
Ya that was a bad move but understandable that a defensive HC would want to bring his own guys in. For me, it was the Shawn Watson hire and likewise Beck for Herman. But the real red flag was Herman hiring Casey Horny. Just zero awareness which proved to be a big issue in his tenure.
