Much appreciated post, @Codman. I’m a bit surprised that House is still here, to be honest. Like you, I think the feelings of those who were in the Bubble playing with everything on the line when the stunning news that House was suspended blind sided them have every right to feel that way.
Harden deserved extra time off. He's been carrying this team for years without ever taking time off. He came back with a great attitude and didn't miss a beat. Y'all act like a bunch of spoiled brats.
That's the issue. House is making $3.7 million. A guy like Bagley is making close to $9 million -- this doesn't work under normal trade rules, and even if it did, the hard cap would rule it out. You basically need to find a late first round pick type (or a 2nd rounder), or a reclamation project on a cheap contract (think Ben McLemore) if you want to trade House. Or yes, you could find a team with a TPE and try to get back a pick - but if we're trading House, I presume it's because Harden/Tucker/EGo are sticking around and you'd want a piece that can help us compete this year, not a pick.
I could be wrong, but I think the idea is that Brown/Tate/Nwaba will fill in House's role. That's why I rather trade him for potential high SRP. If anything, you move House, and if Tilman feels like spending money, the Rockets could sign Gerald back and also bring in a veteran like Taj Gibson to help out at 4/5 spot.
I mean, one could argue that not meeting your contractual obligations of meeting your new coach and team at training camp with a $50M salary is acting like a spoiled brat, so I guess it's just the way to be now.
1) House + Caboclo for I-am-never-happy Nerlens Noel 2) House + Clemens for Mo Bamba Personally I really want Chris Boucher but given the center depth in Toronto I don't see them making the move in any case.
This... It's like when Jimmy Johnson cut Curvin Richards after he fumbled twice in a game... A reporter asked had that been Emmitt Smith we he have cut him too. Jimmy Johnson, "Hell no! I'm not stupid! Curvin Richards ain't Emmitt Smith!"
Well, whatever happens, House is better than what Sterling Brown has showed so far. And House was better the past two years. Brown is their worst and dumbest defensive player so far by far. Rockets w/ Brown on: 96.8 ORTG | 108.6 DRTG. -11.8 Net Rating Rockets w/ Brown off: 125.0 ORTG | 116.4 DRTG. +8.6 Net Rating -20.4 NET on/off. Brown is a dumb distaster out there. Trading House, who’s actually been good, because of him would be a terrible mistake. And then not playing Nwaba on top of it? Stone needs to actually tell them who to play, not have them tell him who to trade.
I'll settle for Noel. He might not be happy with Wood, but I think Silas can figure things out. Noel is a better defender than Wood. and he isn't a slouch on offense. Better than never ready Bruno.
How much of that came from when he was often on the floor with 4 stiffs? House didn't get effective again until the good players got out of quarantine.
I’m not sure what people see in Noel. He’s too weak to defend against strong low post players and his offense is no better that former Rocket, Capela. Yes, he can dunk the ball, but that’s it.
I use +/- as a stat at times, but it's important to remember it can have a lot of noise based on the line ups, especially with such a small sample of games. If a guy like Brown is rolled out with good or bad lineups with a second unit it can affect his plus minus. He has had some lapses but overall he's been absolutely money off the bench and has the wingspan and tools to be a very good defender once he gels with the defense imo. And to be fair to House, he played poorly to start but had a good game recently. He can also have a good impact and defend very well when focused. Let's see if he builds on last game and improves, he's done very good things in the past. I'm all for forgiving a player that made a mistake if he's commited to learning from them and becomes focused to helping the team win long term.
