An athlete who plays with a chip on their shoulder(has stated he wants to make every team pay for not drafting him), has elite talent, puts in the work, and strives to be great is a perfect recipe for greatness. Might also be the recipe for Harden to realize he has something special in Houston. That’s without mentioning Wall is looking pretty damn good for not playing in 2 years.
He won't ever reach his potential if our guards go 10+ 4th quarter possessions without giving him a touch.
His measurements are better than AD athletically. He’s got a higher standing reach by like two inches and a better vertical. And it’s not like AD is some genius on defense. He could absolutely reach AD level. This guy has not even been developed and he’s already all-star level. Wait until he gets a better feel for NBA offenses and like 10 pounds on him to really absorb penetrators and shooters at the rim. He’s already pretty damn aggressive at rim on offense and defense. BEFORE his great showing tonight he’s contesting the 6th most shots at rim in the league. And opponents are -11.1% from expected. That’s elite. When his awareness get to a high level he’ll cut everything off. Elite will be when he knows exactly when and how to step up and intimidate and position himself perfectly to use his athleticism. I see his mentality defensively to be exactly what he’d need for a high level.
Shouldn’t have been controversial at all. CWood isn’t near 2018 CP3 overall offensively but raw scoring? Probably a tad better.
When Wood came in the 4th quarter Wall and Gordon both went to much hero ball. I was screaming at the TV "Give Wood the Ball".
Its like they were taking small ball shots opposed to putting the pressure on the defense to make a decision. This is were John Lucas is probably going crazy. Feed the big man
He was in foul trouble and the refs were kinda shtty. If he fouled out on a dumbass call on offense, lol our next big man would either be cousins (out of shape, ready to blow up on a ref) or Caboclo (lol.)
yeah it’s easy to sit and watch and be like “pass this guy the ball!!” in reality... players like Harden are so special as creators cause they figure out ways to get guys the ball in good positions. wall struggled on the PnR with Wood because the defenders sagged off and as much kore comfortable I am with Wall shooting a 3 vs Westbrook... it’s still not his ideal shot. if the defender says off it disrupts the entire potential of Wood in the PnR. then neither are as good as Harden at the quick oop when driving. On the play where Wall wasn’t fouled (review) should have been an oop to Wood for example. absent Harden you need more coaching. Option 1 is straight post up. Option 2 is develops some plays with wrinkles that end up with Wood as a legit option.
