Nvm I think she/they meant she was traded to San Antonio in 2004 — to the Silver stars or whatever that trash city calls its team.
First and foremost, she was a great basketball player and by all accounts a good coach who it shouldn't be a surprise is doing well with the Spurs under Pop. If she ends up being the first female head coach of an NBA team then that'd be cool to see and great for women and young girls....BUT it feels as if the media(basketball media, sports media overall) are pushing it to happen as I notice they do with certain people and certain things in society. Some here could even say like the push for Giannis to win MVP two seasons ago. I noticed it the year before last when it seems the media were itching for Pop to have Becky take over the team anytime he got thrown out of a game. Even though it didn't appear like she was "first chair" in Pops Orchestra so to speak. I believe every NBA team has a designated assistant head coach to take over if the head coach gets ejected and I figure the Spurs and Pop have that or he at least designates every few months or games or something who will take over coaching if/when he is ejected. It seems with the Spurs that Pop is a bit more random with it than some other teams. Nevertheless, he assigns it beforehand and for a while the past couple of seasons it just seemed like the media was willing it to happen rather than letting things play out.
Her name came up around here recently so I did the Google thing to her and thought it was interesting that her and Pop had Soviet/Russian backgrounds. I knew Pop had it already and was close to joining the CIA before coaching. I think they're up to something.
This is the like the D&D congrats(insert name) threads that pop up before a person fails Clutchfans got weird powers I find it surprising a WNBA team can pay competitively with an NBA team, even if it's an assistant becoming a HC
