i was just thinking...wouldn't it be awesome if they could go back to our old introduction theme (the one that was played during our championship seasons) and play it for game 4? i think it'd make the toyota center go nuts. btw, anyone have that old theme song on their computer?

To be honest I sort of like the idea, but it will never happen.

I think it would have been better if there was some type of playoff tribute. If I had my way, I would have the Chronicle print "This is CLUTCH CITY" signs and have them also at the arena. Also, if there was time, I tihnk a playoff highlight tribute would be neat. Either what happened 10 years ago, or just a lot of great plays (have the screen say 'From Choke City...' and then terrible highlights of Suns domination and then '...to Clutch City' with Elie's Kiss) and then dramatic music to Maxwell going mad3 crazy and Eddie Johnson's shot. It would all end with "This is (in small font) CLUTCH CITY (in big font)".

And I can't remember the name of the theme (Jeff would know), but it's a remixed-cut of the actual song.

    Although, here's the uncut version.

How long did they play that techno song? Like they used to play it on the Rox tv (wb39). That is the only song I can recall.

I wasn't in the USA during our 94 season. I watched the finals in Saudi on AFRTS (Armed Forces Radio and Television Station)

They only started using this song the year AFTER they won the first championship (94-95). Then, they used it till last year when they introduced us to the HORRIBLE drums.

The first championship year was a mixed effort of starting lineup songs, that included at one point "Whoop there it is."

For the playoffs in 1994, however, they stuck with that Allan Parson's project song that the Bulls have used forever.

the techno intro was called "capella". not sure about the spelling, but that was it.

i also remember during the first championship run shaggy did a "Rockets boombastic" mix where each line was a about a member of the team. good stuff.

Ive got the song..both with and without the Rocket voice over clips.....I miss it too. The kind of intro that actually made your skin crawl....thank GOD they did away with the drums...for the most part

That was a great theme song...I think it really energize the crowd...i remember when the Rockets where down 3-0 to Seattle and were not doing so well in game Four. Seattle seemed to completely have befuddled the Rockets, they were down by 17 at the end of the third quarter and it looked pretty bad. During the break they dimmed the lights, someone held up a sign saying "We still believe" and they played the theme song and the whole crowd stood on it's feet and cheered every play. Houston came back to tie the game and bring it to overtime, including coming back from being down by 9 points with 69 seconds left. George Karl looked sick, and you just felt that if the Rockets won this game the Sonics were going to self destruct and Houston was going to pull the series out. Didn't happen, but I still remember how crazy fans were screaming and yelling even when the team was down 17, standing up and cheering the whole fourth quarter...and it all began with that theme song...

Ditto. Game 7 ended around 6am Dhahran time. I remember being very tired that summer having to get up at 2am every other day to follow the Rockets' playoff run that year. Same thing happened the following year, but it was my freshman year of college and I was attending summer school during the Finals that year so at least I was a well rested Rockets fan during the Orlando series. I remeber trying to follow sports on AFRTS even prior to the Gulf War. I remember I was so desperate to find out who won game 5 of the Portland-Detroit NBA Finals in 1990 that I was staring at the poor reception screen, I'm talking almost zero visibility here, trying to decipher what score the wavy lines of the screen was trying to communicate to me. Thank God AFRTS was a stronger signal by the time 94' rolled around.
