DD has been sharing his basketball expertise around here for a long time. I will say that at least he's consistent. Here's all you need to know about DD's basketball takes. This is my favorite post ever on CF.Net. Keep in mind this is 2009 Chris Paul that's being discussed along with Aaron Brooks. https://bbs.clutchfans.net/threads/...rade-possibilities.179591/page-2#post-4993303
Morey got him for cheap and seems like Tuck wants to be rewarded and compensated fairly for all those years of hard labor with blood sweat and tears and what market value is for top tier 3-D guys. So yeah there’s some hard feelings there. But a business move has to be made and might not work out for him. Nothing wrong with Tuck. Do your thing Tuck.
Ugliness in humans displayed here. Just ugly. Most of these folks probably supports “Shut up and dribble” philosophy. Zero player empowerment. Don’t let these guys be heads of corporations or management I’d hate to work for them.
You are minimizing his role and value. The things he does is out of desire and work ethic. Much like Bev he has to do the little things to win without the tricks like Bev. These little things including toughness are not easy to replicate. Why do you think they didn’t want to include him in that Jimmy Butler deal? This extension all comes down to money. Pretty simple. Not much of a discussion. But to deride him Or minimize his impact is both foolish and inaccurate.
Same way he wants players to “shut up and dribble”. He wants you to “shut up and not post your opinions” lol. Nothing wrong with your posts man. I’ve seen so much worse on here.
Again you subscribe to the shut up and dribble approach. His life his contract his money his future not yours. If you were in his shoes you would want the best outcome for you and your family. We all do and anything otherwise is a lie. No need to criticize and opine about what he should do. He is a thinking man he has the right to want more from an industry that makes billions solely from the backs of these players. I say again PUT YOURSELF IN THESE PLAYERS SHOES!
He is free to try. He will also be 36 when his current contract ends. He has little leverage. I'm happy for him to get a max deal - somewhere else. Good luck with that. Again, I'm happy with his contribution, don't dislike him as a player. But he is delusional if he thinks he will get a bigger (and long-term) contract at age 36 than what he currently has.
This one would also be fine. Still give them cash and picks. They aren't even really playing Whiteside and Bjelica a lot of minutes this season. Holmes and Whiteside are redundant. And then re-sign Gerald Green with the money saved.
If you see the guy's political opinions, its so night and day from what he's saying now, its really crazy to me.
From a personal career and financial standpoint, anyone in his position would want an extension. Can't hate the guy for looking out for himself financially. Plus the guy hustles on every possession, every night. He is not expected to put up solid stats nor his contribution ever show in his hustle so I do not even understand why to discuss his stats at all to put him down. He is able to play SG, PF, SF, and sometimes even C when needed. I understand maybe for the organization it would not make financial sense but let's not put him down on his effort. His hustle has been consistent and also given the Rockets clutch defense at times in the last 3 years.
Yes, agreed, not hating on him or anything. He hustles. But he will decline physically, it is inevitable. So if anything, his next deal should be less than what it is now. He seems to expect a long-term deal at a higher amount, which makes no sense.
I don't understand this thread.where did he say something about a higher salary for the extension? Would Richer teams probably give him a higher salary?
Most of them should just "shut up and dribble", you don't let the children make the decisions at the school for the same reason you shouldn't let the players make the decisions it's a recipe for disaster.
Can he get the money from sponsorship and advertisement? it can reduce the tax. Ask Tilman finds a company to give him advertisements fee instead
For all your self righteousness - you seem to be doing quite a bit of judging yourself... When you're a professional athlete, you dont get paid for your 'body of work' - you get paid for what you bring to the table today and going forward. I feel PJ's skills are diminishing as he is getting up there in age... couple that with his desire to go public with his contract concerns - and I'd let him walk... No hatred toward PJ - just a business decision... When people are debating what players they want and what contracts should be given - there is an inherent amount of judgement... if you are put off by that - perhaps you are in the wrong forum...
That's the inherent argument between the aging player and management, the aging player wants to get paid based on what they did in the past, knowing their best years are behind them.....management wants what is best for their team, which is to not overpay a washed up scrub based on the player they once were. Fans of the team, SHOULD back management in that dispute because they SHOULD want what is best for the team rather than what is merely best for an individual player....but it doesn't always work like that with certain "fans"
