Yeah and if Harden leaves and Houston is lucky enough to get another upper tier Hall of Famer somehow, we will still have to be very very careful in massaging him.

Let’s just keep him for the year. Unless the requirement is met we keep him and get the 3 or 4 seed and take a shot at it. What’s to lose? I don’t give a #### what the media says. When have they ever said anything nice. I’m used to it.

I agree let him stay at least for this year hopefully in time he softens up about leaving, you try again to offer him an extension in the offseason and see if he would take it but if he still wants to leave then you absolutely have to trade him in the summer of 21 and make that priority number 1 before his contract runs out.

You need to get something for him and not let him walk like OKC did with Durant or Orlando did with Shaq

Ah yes, let's set a precedent that whenever a star or player wants out and makes a huge fuss/drama the Rockets will get rid of him asap to avoid drama. That type of thinking is how BoB got rid of Hopkins for cheap. U wait until the deal is right to get rid of a player, and of course one shouldn't be a dumbass to hold onto a player until the very end to let him walk away for free.

How much return will you get for an expiring player? All SaS got for Kawhi was Demar Derozan. That's why the best time to trade him was before the season started. It's not about the drama its about maximizing return for your asset. Rox could have had lots of assets because Harden still has 2 years under contract, the lesser time on the deal the less return you will get, simple as that.

If I remember right we had the choice of Jermaine O’Neal or Kelvin Cato in that deal and choose Cato and then gave Cato a massive deal.

The same is true with getting Anthony Davis.

The Lakers are not some magically well ran organization.

It seems to me that this new front office likes to use the media. It’s either that or they can’t control their people.

I don’t know that harden or anyone from his camp is leaking information to the media. He apparently had that trade demand before the Russ trade, and that stayed quiet.

He'll also be 32 next year lol it's not like he is AD with all the time in the world. Remember the package Rockets gave up for Cp3? Just a bunch of role players and couple of first rounders. Harden is much better than Cp3 but his age means he won't be a foundational piece anymore and teams won't give up the farm for him.

Maybe airing of grievances followed by feats of strength is what Ferntits, Harden, and Stone to patch things up?
