I wouldn't mind seeing Wally on the Rockets. As some have already said, he would make a dandy #3 scorer behind Steve and Mobes. A perfect counterpart to signing Wally would be to also somehow acquire Jerome Williams. Believe it or not, but I'd rather have Jerome, Wally and a newly re-signed Mo-Tay than Webber (assuming Hakeem comes back, that is). ------------------ All hail Fadeaway's Cyberfish -- your 2000-2001 BobFinn* Fantasy Basketball League Champions!
kidrock8 - I don't want to argue via bbs, but Wally has an outstanding FG% and has an excellent mid-range jumper, as well as the ability to run and finish on the break. I promise you that he is a much more consistent scorer than Shandon, and he is already the #3 option on the T-Wolves behind KG and Brandon. I agree that his defense could use some work, but that's true of everyone on the Rocs!!! ------------------ Our purpose in life is to find our gift, and the meaning of life is to give it away!
Wally's World in Rocket pinstripes would be very cool. I would still rather prefer a more defensive minded player at the 3 (ala Lynch or Outlaw with more range) and more scoring down low to complement our backcourt, but Wally has the potential to grow into a solid all-round player. Just out of curiousity, would you rather have a Mike Miller, or Wally Z? Oh, and for those not with us at the time, here is the groundbreaking thread where outlaw comes out of the closet in full force. http://bbs.clutchcity.net/ubb/Forum7/HTML/001446.html Azim da Dream ------------------ "Africa is a nation that suffers from incredible disease." - Geroge W. Azim the dream: You want someone with Wally's shot and Bo Outlaw's defense? Hmm... that's simple. Let's get Grant Hill ! I'm afraid that unless we want to part with Stevie, we're going to have to settle for one or the other. ------------------ Lacking inspiration at the moment...
Well Mike Miller looks like he was beaten with an ugly stick..oh you probably meant on the court...well here's their rookie year comparisons: Points: Wally 11.6 < Mike 11.9 Boards: Wally 3.7 < Mike 4.0 Assist: Wally 2.8 > Mike 1.7 Blocks: Wally 0.32 > Mike 0.23 Steals: Wally 0.79 > Mike 0.62 Turnov: Wally 1.14 < Mike 1.18 Minute: Wally 29.7 > Mike 29.1 FG Per: Wally .511 > Mike .436 FT Per: Wally .826 > Mike .711 3P Per: Wally .359 < Mike .407 Mike is 3 years younger but I'd rather have Wally, who improved in almost every category in his second season. Both have all-star potential. ------------------
Thanks for the comparison, Outlaw. I like those kind of direct comparisons. Wally Scz. is clearly the better player, and undoubtedly less in-bred than Miller, who just might be the banjo playing kid from Deliverance. One is GQ and the other is GeeWhiz. Wally plays in the West, so his numbers mean more, to my way of thinking. I've always liked his game, but think Battier will be better, as will a couple of other small forwards in this draft. ------------------ Some days you eat the bear. Some days the bear eats you.

Yes, he does have a great FG%, but that doesn't say anything about his ability to score... He is $ from 20 ft and in, but we need a sweet shooting 3 pt shooter at SF... I don't see how Szcerbiak would fit on the Rockets... For him to succeed with the Rockets, Rudy would have to implement MUCH MORE movement without the ball and setting picks away from the ball... For as long as I can remember, the Rockets very RARELY do much moving without the ball... He's a nice player, but is he even a top 10 SF? ------------------ "Awesome baby!" Dick Vitale
Why is there even a comparison b/t Miller and Wally??? Miller has much more potential... He has a lot more range on his jumper, he has a better handle, better passing skills, and is much more athletic... They are 2 completely different players... Miller is much better WITH THE BALL, while Wally relies on running around picks and getting the ball for spot up 15 fters... ------------------ "Awesome baby!" Dick Vitale
Didn't Wally handle the ball the majority of the time in college? If he did play point forward, I don't see how you can say he can't handle the ball. ------------------ Say what you must, Do all you can, Break all the f***ing rules and go to Hell with Superman, And die like a champion, Yahey!
I think Wally would be a great solution to our 3 issue. And I also Believe that Minnesota, due too the rifts that have been shown between Garnett and Wally would let him go for less than most of y'all think. ------------------
Just because that is his role on the TWolves doesn't mean that's all he can do. He's pretty athletic in his own right. as for passing, Wally had 260 assists last season and Miller had 140 while playing similar roles on equally talented teams. ------------------
Actually, I was thinking more along the lines of a Byron Russell, but I can settle for a Hill. I don't think we need a superstar at that position, we need someone to do the dirty work, play solid D and score when asked upon. Since I'm putting it that way, pretty much a Shandon with a couple more inches. Thanks for the number comparison outlaw, I didn't realize Wally posted those kinds of numbers in his rookie campaign. Miller probably does have a higher ceiling in terms of his potential, but unless he gets traded I don't think that can be reached with Hill and McGrady on Orlando's roster. Also, as mentioned, Miller might be a better fit for our system as opposed to Wally Z. Simply because he is more adept at creating his own shot and is a more able ball-handler and distributor. As for who is more esthetically pleasing to the eye, um, no comment. When you see Rudy T has gone after the likes of Stanley Roberts and Pig Miller in the past, you know looks isn't an issue with him. i think doc rivers said he wants to use all 3 of them in the staring lineup with Grant Hill possibly playing point guard a'la Magic Johnson. ------------------
Azim da Dream, thanks for the retro visit to Outlaw's "Out-Post"... I have to say that I was surprised, amused and encouraged by the quality and tone of the reponses. Pinetree - LOL re: "GQ vs. Gee Whiz", that was some funny stuff. I agree that Miller looks like the love child of Jed and Ellie Mae Clampett !! I believe Wally would just help us get to our ultimate destination in a shorter amount of time than just about anybody except perhaps a fully recoverd Grant Hill, and it would give Outlaw some eye-candy to munch on over the course of the season. ------------------ Our purpose in life is to find our gift, and the meaning of life is to give it away!
hey azim, what's your cousin doing now that the lone gunmen was cancelled? hope she can find some more work. she's a pretty good actress. also her love interest on the show was a real hottie! ------------------
Why don't we get Fiona Apple on this team so we can see a picture of her topless ! ------------------ -jbond77 "truth be told, my car is dead, and I'm having am radio withdrawl symptoms"
Assists don't mean much... Because Cassell gets 8-9 assists per game, does that mean he is a good passer? No, it means he has guys who are capable of making shots after they get the ball from him... Assists are the one individual stat that you have to take with a grain of salt the most... I guess Steve Francis isn't a great passing PG because his assists aren't near 8 or 9? No, it's because in the system, it's hard to rack up assists when none of your teammates are moving around trying to get open... What I am saying is that Miller has been compared to a poor man's Pete Maravich in that he has an arsenal of offensive skills... I never said that Wally can't pass or dribble, but I did say that I feel that Miller is better at doing those things... ------------------ "Awesome baby!" Dick Vitale

RRUS: It was a shot I could pass up, especially after Outlaw's photo posting and comments. Actually, I like Miller a lot, but the difference in their looks and demeanor cries out for commentary. Loved the Beverly Hills angle. You know that by now the new ROY has a cement pond in his backyard. ------------------ "We're having a pretty good time considering one day we're all going to die."
