One takeaway from Ch44 update is this could drag out for a few more weeks

MPJ seems really out of place on this list. Am I missing something? I saw this dude in the playoffs, and he hit a couple of threes, but what has he ever done to be the centerpiece of a trade for the top scorer in the NBA??

Nothing. He would be an excellent 2nd piece in a deal, but by no means should be close to a starting point.

There is an incentive to get the deal done today because then Harden could extend with the new team. If the deal isn't done by midnight then the acquiring team would have to wait until next offseason to extend.

Exactly he’s 6-10 and can shoot but he’s soft, a mediocre defender & rebounder. He’s had quite the injury history that includes multiple back surgeries. Whined about not getting enough shots in the midst of a playoff run. I would pass on his drama.

When he was coming out he was the best player in his class before getting injured. His pedigree is very high and his skillset in someone who is 6'10"+ is basically limited to Durant, Tatum, Brandon Ingram, and Gallinari. It is a scarcity thing to a certain degree.

LOL yall still believing this absolute BS about Murray. he isn't going anywhere. if that was the case the deal would've BEEN done. there is no way they get traded for an old Harden. they aren't that stupid.

Unpopular Opinion Alert, Harden value is at highest right now until next offseason.

To Incorporate Harden mid-season when he has had a system built around would be very hard.

It’s either now or next offseason IMO.

CH44, thanks for taking the time to post this info. As a Rockets fan it is nice to get a feel on how the team is thinking. I am GLAD they are standing FIRM on only making a trade for a godfather offer and not settling. Love the fact they will ride it out if the "offer" isn't there.

Interesting that you talking about Simmons...but not as a Rockets ADD but as a means to get one of the "10 guys" they want? That is....interesting.

He slipped to 14th overall for exactly the reasons that have played out. He barely played in his one year of college, missed his first year altogether, and then was babied last year coming back. He flashed for sure, but the warts were obvious too. The talent is there, but I don’t see how that’s your primary piece.

In my mind, he’s similar value wise to Shai Gilgeous Alexander in the Paul George deal - nice, valuable piece, but not the centerpiece.

we really haven’t had a long rebuild tho- we made the playoffs every single year except 1 during a rebuild. Our assets at the time let us not out right tank like most teams have to do. We’ve made deep playoff runs 3 of the last 4 years. We have finally have a superstar in the making in tatum and a potential perennial all star in Jaylen brown.

In terms of players not coming here, Boston will never be a top destination and it will never be a Miami, an LA but neither will nearly any other team in the league. the Celtics didn’t have real cap space for over 20 years until 2016. They landed horford. In 2017 they landed Hayward. In 2019 they landed kemba, now none of those players are lebron level free agents and Hayward never lived up to his expectations but at the time horford and Hayward were both top free agents as was kemba so while I won’t say Boston is a destination, that would be foolish- I don’t think it’s as in dire straits as some point out.

as far as trading Jaylen brown for harden, we agreed it’s something they should be more than willing and eager to do but it def comes with some risks and kyrie leaving them is definitely in the back of their minds. That said, yes I’d do it and not think twice. It’s easy for me or you to say that tho
