On 50 shots. Also, that is lower than his regular season average, so you are actually help prove the point.
Yall are straight up dumb focusing on Simmons one weakness and ignoring the fact that he is one of the best young players in the league already despite it. Simmons is better than Siakam, better than Jalen Brown, and higher upside than both. Simmons is a terrible fit next to Embiid, who is a below average pick and roll center who is elite in the post, so he clogs the lane. Simmons averaged 20 8 8 the last couple of years without Embiid in the lineup and would absolutely feast of paired with Wood who is tailor made for him. A guy who can't shoot just won the mvp because the team was built around his strengths and mask his weaknesses, get a grip. Simmons would take a giant leap when put in the right system with the right personnel around him.
Plus people always overreact when some players overperform in the playoffs. Agreed about Simmons on the Sixers, he needs his own team to flourish.
One weakness? I could see if the guy was a bad free throw shooter...questionable teammate...bad at finishing around the rim through contact...sometimes loses himself on defense... This guy doesn’t have a weakness. Giannis has a weakness when it comes to shooting. Rondo with the Celtics had a weakness when it came to shooting. Westbrook has a weakness when it comes to shooting. Simmons has a freaking crater in his game that completely dictates the entire outlook of the franchise he’s with. Dude can’t even play with one of the best players in the league simply because he can’t shoot. This is not some minor hole in his game. He is a primary ball handler that doesn’t even try to shoot.
The thing is there is a difference a person who can't and won't shoot. Giannis will try to shoot to bea threat. While Simmons won't.
Which is different than not even trying to score. Low volume, high efficiency scoring with elite playmaking that is constantly putting pressure on the defense.
You are right there is a difference. When Simmons does shoot, 11 times a game, he is efficient especially at the rim where he converts at an elite level (72%). When he's not shooting he creates the third most open three pointers for teammates in the league. If you are only referring to jump shots, every one that Giannis takes is bailing the defense out and the opposing team is laughing all the way to the bank. So in that sense Simmons is just more self aware and plays smarter basketball.
He can average 50ppg in the playoffs but if he still cant make a single three in the second half of a game 7 with a lead then what does it matter? I rather have Simmons ducking his head and going straight to the basket instead of an extremely difficult step back three that does not work in crunch time. Some of yall love to make up excuses, but but "The Warriors are the best team ever"... This is baloney, did Hakeem not go through some of the best centers and dominant teams of all time? He absolutely demolished any one in his way because at the time his focus wasn't strippers and pizza... It was chasing a ring back when chasing a ring meant something. Not jumping ship before it sank, but helping the crew stay afloat long enough for him to save them.
True, but his mechanics are not one tweak away from functioning. Unless he shows promise shooting with his right hand, I would pass.
wouldnt build my championship hopes on either of those guys because in the playoffs where you have to beat a team 4 times their teams are easier to game plan against. And at the end of close games when you need a three or multiple points they may as well not even be on the floor. Well Giannis can be because at least he might make it.
Hahahah THIS GUY SUCKS! He was PAID FOR POTENTIAL AND NOT SKILL! Morey is trying to pull off another miracle trade involving Harden. Don't fall for it Houston!
hard pass on Simmons, this guy will never learn how to shoot in this league Imagine paying the supermax for this guy down the line when he cant even make a jumper.
