Jazz are apparently OK with perennial 2nd tier status.

If the Jazz were smart, they would trade us Donovan Mitchell for James Harden. That's the only ****ing way that Rudy Gobert would ever live up to such a ridiculous crippling contract. James would make Rudy seem that he was worth that much money.

    Holy ****.

Not great having gobert take up 30% of your cap for the next 4 or 5 years...

But I get it for utah. Gobert is a top defensive player and center. More to the point what else were they going to do with that money. Let's be real, no star free agent is signing in Utah lol.

Gobert is one of the few centers who can slow down Hakeem ,it took the Jazz 3 decades to figure that out !

Id settle for somebody young that can play alongside Wood. Hell I'd prob do THT+Kuzma +KCP+whatever picks Lakers have left.

As long as it aint Dimwiddle+Nets trash man.

Agreed. We’re not getting a luka or JaMorant so a younger prospect from the next level below and a few other pieces will do.

Gordon Hayward got 4/120. Assuming Kawhi stays with the Clippers the 2021 class is looking really thin. Holiday probably extends with the Bucks. I don't even know who the best FA option is right now. Maybe Derozan? If they show there's something left in the tank it might end up being Oladipo, CP3 or Blake Griffin. I'm pretty sure someone would have given Gobert a max.

Good news is that this is another "top tier" 2021 free agent that is no longer available and raises the price for Harden.

How do these Chumps get paid this money. Hakeem ,Pat Ewing and David Robinson didnt make this in their entire careers combined. Hiw this buster will make this in 5 years is beyond ridiculous.

I think Utah had no choice. The FA class of 2021 is damn thin and some other team was likely to throw the max at Gobert. I think in the Jazz mind, they are trying to remain competitive with Mitchell and it makes no sense to let their center go, even though he has plenty of holes in his game that does not warrant him a near max deal. The Jazz lose Gobert next summer and they were likely to take a step back.

It's cause back then the rich fat owners who sat on their asses and couldn't even dribble made a lion share of the income from the league. Now it's a more even split as it should be.

On topic: this contract is garbage and unless Mitchell turns into an MVP which i doubt, the Jazz will regret this in a few years.
