Thanks for the insight. Nice to see a different perspective other than the "he's been hurt so he sucks" takes. I'm cautiously optimistic. He's looked good from what I've seen of him here so far.
It's ridiculous because KD, AD, Curry, Klay, Kawhi, Zion, Simmons, Embid, Russ, etc... and a bunch of other 2nd option guys have had major injuries that nobody seems to care about. Some with early and long histories. If you look at the elite players, only really LBJ and Harden have been injury free excluding LBJ's groin issue. I think for any top team, their best players health is key, but when has it ever not been? Cavs and Raptors got a 'chip because of injuries and Rockets and Worries didn't... That's how it goes.
I also have watched a ton of Wood (don't start), and again made a thread on the other website after the Wall trade asking was I the only one who loves the Rockets. I said then way before Gordon that you guys are the only team with legit twin towers to match-up against LA. I said that you were Cousins would kill off the bench. I was already comparing Wood as the best match up in the league against AD. James is screwing up but I hope it's more so about the owner and not the roster. He's going to regret leaving
Hey OP @Darrell , I was going through The Washington Wizards front office section on the teams website. That page seems to be down at the moment so I couldn't see any names on there but who is your favorite front office personnel and do you think they impacted John Wall's production on the court? I'm hoping Wall can bring that to Houston. Thanks...
LOL. TBF to Russ, he is similar to Wall in that he's never truly been able to play his game until you guys went small last year and he was a beast during that stretch. He played his whole career with Perkins, and Adam's. I think that he will look great in Washington with Beal and back with Brooks but most of all with our center Bryant because he has legit 3pt range. I could see Bryant being on the MIP list
I've been pretty impressed by Wall's play this preseason. Obviously hoping for the best since he's a Rocket now but his energy and fit definitely benefit the Rockets more than Westbrook's. We'll see how he handles the workload, would be happy if he played everything but back to backs. Good luck with Westbrook in DC, we'll see if he can improve his efficiency or allow Beal to flourish. I don't think he was bad here, I think he was just...Westbrook. He throws down amazing dunks at top speed and flexes and it's awesome and then he does something dumb and you become perplexed at how there is never any middle ground. Amazing or dumb. That's Westbrook.
Couldn't agree more. I find it funny that KD and Klay will be back to 100% if you ask the national media, but for some reason Wall may never walk again. The hypocrisy is deep.
OP, great first post. And really good information. I really like what I have seen from Wall so far and hope it continues.
Good post OP -- I think everyone likes what they see so far the only question is will that achilles and the rest of his body hold up. Only time will tell, but he seems to have done everything he could to make a successful return.
I’m personally excited for Wall, Wood, and Cousins if all can stay healthy. Wall and Cousins are at a stage in their career where they have matured past the “It’s all about me” status. Harden will never give up his stat hunting. Wood legitimately believes he can be amongst the best players in the game and I’m rooting for him to prove that.
Bruh, we are the Wizards. We had the worst GM in the NBA in Ernie Grunfield since forever until we fired him last year and before that we again had the worst GM in hof ball player Wes Unseld. In Walls last healthy season we won 49 games in the east. Do you wanna know how bad that really is? Well we won the title in 78 and haven't won 50 games since. Literally haven't won 50 games since 78. A damn shame. The new GM seems a Lil solid but he was underneath Grunfield so who knows. The fan base hated the Robin Lopez signing in the off season
Ouch, I think the name has to go back to being the Bullets first. I remember playing The Bullets so much on NBA JAM.. And for some odd reason The Clippers too..
Thanks for this thread. Needed this! Wall clearly has his burst but I haven't seen his court vision just yet. Hopefully he's just rusty and working on getting used to game speed again!
Welcome to the board @Darrell, or whoever you end up being once you get @Clutch to change your handle. Shoot him an email. Hey, we really needed to see a post like your OP, OP. Seriously. We've had James for 8 years and he's been tremendous, but the current chaos has most of us sorta freaked out. Hearing from you how Wall is in games when he's healthy and then seeing the highlights from that playoff run made me feel a hell of a lot better in general, and in particular about John's potential impact. It's easy to imagine him playing with Wood. Heck, it's easy to imagine him playing with James. If Wall is truly healthy and can stay that way? Wow.
