This is my first post on the board. I am a DIE HARD Rockets fan and hate to see out guys going out in their PJs every night. Why can't we just make evolutionary changes like every other team. (Lakers, Celtics, Spurs, Mavs) Does anyone have any scoop???

    Welcome.

I agree with you. I like the newer style of slightly collared jerseys. They look a lot better.

The pajamas have not been good luck, and no one likes them, so why keep them?

    New team. New uniforms.

I was critical of the Rockets jerseys until I saw the picture on the front page clutchcity.net of Pau Gasol in the F.C. Barcelona jersey. That is the most hideous thing I have ever seen in my life!!! Remember it could always be worse. One more thing, aren't these jersey posts becoming really annoying?

They aren't that bad.. and they wont be changed if at all until they move into the new arena. I think the rox are more concerned now with putting together a good team

This was talked about in the Chronicle in the middle of the season. There is no chance the uni's will change before the new arena opens and only a marginal one they'll change then.

Remember that it was only a few years ago when they went to these and they still sell a lot of merchandise. It costs a hell of a lot of money to re-design logos and clothing and I can't imagine they will be too eager to take on that task with cost overruns from a new arena potentially staring them in the face.

Personally, I'm not a fan of the pinstripes either, but they are probably here to stay for now. Check back in 2003. [IMG]

I guess I'm just to the point that I dont care what they are wearing. I've heard some people say players might not sign here because of the uniforms.. i really doubt that would ever happen

Jeff, it has been at least 5 or 6 years since the new uniforms came in, and it is not as if they have been associated with great results.

While it is true that it costs money to design new uniforms, new unis create a huge new market for sales. New uniforms means a flood of sales as loyal fans rush out to get the new look, and before that, fans buy up remaining stocks of the old stuff.

You may be right about the timing being tied to the new arena, but I doubt the cost of arena construction will have anything to do with the marketing of new uniforms. Different profit centers entirely.

I love my rockets, and its a sad fact that im still sporting around my chucky jersey. If The rockets can "convince" us to a new arena, cant we convince them into getting us new jerseys. I SAY, we should start a petition. Its one thing for us to sit here and whine about it, if we wanted to, im sure theres a lot more we can get done then just an article in the chronicle about it. And im sure there are NBA beuracracies (sp?) that we may have to go through, but if you stick where it hurts, at there wallets, im sure we can speed things up.

I agree with Pine; the uniforms change periodically to create new demand in the fan base.

In fact, the newer style Laker unis are the first change in their basic uniform that I can remember in my lifetime.

And I don't believe that the basic design of the Celtic uniforms have ever changed.

I have asked for this before, but I think everyone here understands that the Rockets aren't going to do anything until the new stadium comes along, ala the Astros new Unis. The difference is the Astros unis were tight, the Rockets are not so good.

I was home sick yesterday and managed to catch "Vintage NBA" on ESPN. The program featured Clyde and they played several minutes from Game 3 of the Orlando series. (Man that rebound and coast to coast dunk is still awesome!) However, it was somewhat distressing when I saw the old unis. Whatever the faults of the championship jerseys, they were simple, classy, and a hell of a lot better than what we currently have. A recent poll asking what is the best flag had NM as #1 and Texas as #2. Both have simple, elegant designs. All the flags that tried to cram a bunch of stuff on them finished near the end with the new Georgia flag coming in dead last. We're the new Georgia flag of the NBA.
